Not only is the other team getting more shots but they are taking and making more 3's, while we are focusing on 2's, post up. Either way you slice it, this style of play is not good.

 

I'm not even here to debate if it's good or bad, I just want you to understand that you cannot get less shots than your opponent by playing slow. That is not how basketball works. Both teams get the same number of possessions. If one team is playing slow and the other team is playing fast, the other team does not get more shots than you because they play fast.

 

The NBA defending champions have the 4th slowest pace and shoot the most 2s in the league (per 100).

Rockets have a bottom 3rd Pace pretty much tied with top seeds Boston and Minny, and shoot 12th most 2s, middle of pack.

 

I looked it up and you are correct on pace of play. However, my complaint more so is the Rockets have turned from a team putting up 40 - 50 3pt shots a game to putting up 40 - 50 2pt shots a game.

 

once you add in the turnovers - offensive rebounds then yes …that is what sways the possessions
