Now THAT is what I want to see. McGrady on fire. Yao efficient. Luther AMAZING. Rafer really really sucked again, but at least he hit his free throws. Other than a few ridiculous turnovers at the end of the game, we closed out pretty well.
I had a chance to watch the Sonics/Jazz game but I gave up on it when the Jazz pulled way ahead. When I saw the 39-16 4th quarter box score and the Sonics had won, I could have kicked myself. Part of it may be that Rashard is playing for a contract and is very motivated right now.
this is the tmac u will see in the playoffs. sure u won't see these types of stats every game, but u will see the aggressiveness. he started 1-6, but they were a "good" 1-6 b/c he was driving and attacking. again, he can't play like this every night in the reg. season b/c of the back. but now w/ the playoffs coming, you'll see this type of effort. and the shutdown D is there. yao started out great but man, 5 fouls?
Yao will get earful from JVG on his last foul. He was told over and over again -- don't put ball on the floor. 9 out of 10 times he did that, it was a turn over.
After opening the game shooting 1-for-6 on jumpshots, Tracy McGrady lowered his head and drove the ball. By the end of the night, he had lowered the boom on the Kings with 40 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds. that is from blinebury's blog. this is why he's "blindbury" b/c i'm sure 3 of tmac's first 6 shots were layups that he simply missed, one on a fastbreak.
they are about to play the rerun of the astros game on fsn...so are they not going to show the rockets game again after midnight? I missed most of the game and wanted to see it...
Nice..... what was more impressive was the focus and the insity he displayed tonight. he was focused on getting the win no matter what.Mac in that Zone is breathtaking. Orlando McGrady...
An off game and one where he's just simply not aggressive are two different things. It has always been more about how we lose instead of the fact that we did lose. As long as the effort is there, I'm happy.
I just noticed in the box score that Tony Brothers officiated this game. Isn't he the one who never gave Yao a call against the Hornets 2 weeks ago?
I think all the fouls against Yao were very soft calls, basically touch fouls (except that one where he tripped Shareef). Miller flopped on Yao's 4th foul. I'm pretty sure Garcia was standing in the restricted zone on the offensive foul, and I'm not even sure he was standing still. Yao was gathering himself to dunk it. Too bad he got a tough call against him.
again ppl said he sucked when he started 1-6 failing to see he drove repeatedly. ppl shouldn't look at stats but moreso the way tmac plays. tmac wanted to prove something from the start. despite teh 1-6 start, i thought it was a "good" 1-6 start
but some of that is yao's fault. don't even reach in (as seen in that shareef's layup in the 2nd Q). let it go. we need yao on the floor and giving up a basket is fine if u can afford it.
I don't care if we got more foul calls going our way than sac did. that was horrible officiating. is yao a rookie? NO he is a perennial allstar. At least call them the same way... their forwards got tons of ticky tack fouls. Yao was getting clobbered on every play. Who was officiating the game where they kept calling "2 hands" when Yao tried to back into the paint? That was the only decent officiating I've seen on Yao this year.
Those were in the first half though. He was fine the first half. The fouls in the second half were kind of tough luck for Yao IMO. He fouled Shareef diving to the ground to try to save a loose ball. Then he basically taps Brad Miller in the back and Miller flies into the stands, and the refs buy the flop. Then when he comes back, he gets tagged with an offensive foul. I'm pretty sure Garcia was standing in the restricted zone since Yao had it in the low post and took a power-dribble before running into Garcia. So IMO that's just a bad call. So what put him on the bench in the second half were a hustle play turned bad, a flop, and a bad call. Sh*t happens, Yao has done way better this year than before at managing fouls, so I think he'll do fine tomorrow.
It seemed to me like t-mac's shot selection was a lot better tonight. When he sets his feet under his jumper it's pretty much money, and other than a couple fadeaways (which are a pretty good shot) he didn't shoot a lot of the wild falling/leaning/fading shots that end up flat and miss. When he gets underneath the ball in fundamental shooting form, his J is money.
Yeah I don't how to explain it but it wasn't a "bad" 1-6 start. He made his first shot, then he rattled 2 in and out, then he drove in and missed a layup, and missed one more jumper that went in and out again right? So his shot was pretty much on just needed a little tweaking. He had pretty good shot selection. Then he started attacking it more and it all played out from there. This what you can look forward to AT LEAST in the playoffs.
