The embarassment for RA is: 1) with the existence of TMac, RA can never run his offensive system. 2)Yao is not a good passer. Still, RA can never run his offensive system by Yao.

This was a game in which Steve Francis was DESPERATELY needed. A game which he surely would've left his mark because it was the Tmac/Yao show. Sadly, when its that show, for everyone else its the stand-around-and-look-stupid-show. It's been like that since the Tmac/Yao combo began. Remember the 40 point playoff blowout by Dallas. :(

In that Series we needed a guy that could create his own shot beside Tmac. Draw in the double teams and dish to shooters and Yao and that would attack the paint with reckless abandon. Sounds a crapload like Steve Francis. I'm telling you he's key. Get well soon Stevie.

Well how can adelman run a system where the personal at hes disposal are horrible fit for hes system. hayes, he is not a motion offense type player. he cant hit a jumpshot to save he's life. typical jvg player. battier is to hesitant. he passes up so mant wideopen looks it's so annoying. hes game is defense. JVG type player.

I suspect we'll see a huge gutting of this team if adelman is still around at seasons end. this team, is in noway built for a motion offense style team.

T-Mac, Yao, Scola and SF3 stay. Anyone else may go.

nice pic. And I agree ... I dont see us getting far without making 1-2 moves to put us over the hump.

But anyway, here's my analysis of tonight's game (posted in the "someone please help me feel better..." thread):

I think the Rockets definitely have the talent to destroy teams like this ...

The thing that troubles me is that we were using Tmac the way that ended up costing us those games during the losing streak. He was basically playing point again (btw I must have missed that old big deal about Tmac being a "point forward but w/e) and tryin to get everyone a shot. Yes he got 40, can't ask for more from him. But what I'm noticing is that the players outside our big two, despite their ability, lacked a lot of things ... fire/heart/desire, urgency, confidence, etc. You have capable offensive players like scola, bonzi, james, just sitting there, watching tmac iso every play. It's like they lost their confidence in their ability to put the ball in the basket. It was blatantly obvious that each play was "get the ball to tmac or yao and hope they save us again." We all know where that path leads ... This type of play is what costs us games. We used to be able to have our big two save us more often than not last year, but it's obvious it wont happen that way as easily anymore. Our role players need to know when to maximize their abilities and when to defer to Tmac.

The Francis fan in me believes that if he played, he would have inspired our players again ... that we would have won the game. But I don't see Steve Francis doing what our role players did today ... Just sit there and let Tmac do his thing for every single play. Steve ain't one to forget that he can get to the rim. He'll take advantage if someone takes him lightly. He has a lot of those qualities of what our role players were missing tonight, most importantly, the heart/desire and confidence. If we could get our role players to have confidence and a tad bit of urgency ... then it'd be fair to mention us with those elite teams.

Also noticed ... Bonzi needs to be used more. I found it odd that they kept posting up Tmac against artest, when Bonzi had salmons guarding him on the opposite elbow. Then they posted up Bonzi when Artest was guarding him ... was that a mistake? You'd think you would post up Bonzi when he has the advantage.

My last observation: Our identity is still very unknown. No apparent reason to switch back to "rely on Tmac and Yao for 48 minutes" mode in this game. Why not continue to get Tmac his shots when he's off the ball? Sure he missed a lot in the first half, but making him create for others as well as himself all game will tire him out (maybe not in this particular game because he was on fire, but in a game 7 playoff series ...). And at the very least, if we do have Tmac create for everyone, why not surround him with shooters like Head instead of Alston? Gotta learn to play to each player's maximum strengths.

In conclusion ... I think the Rockets need an awesome motivational speaker

I thought Adelman would recognize this type of play since he ran this kind of play where either Bonzi or Artest would post up, depending on who had the better matchup ...

The team needs SF3 to be on the court in the last 5 mins every game. YAO is usually out of steam at that time and TMac typically forgets how to dribble during the last couple of mins. SF3 is the only one who has both mental power and athletic skills to lead the team to win.

I believe Caoch A's future in Rockets really depends on when he realizes SF3 is the cure for this team.

BTW, Scola is not in the starting lineup? You gotta be kidding!

I just don't understand what the coach is thinking. If he still makes rockets suck like this in the next 3 games. He should be fired. He brought nothing for rockets...., and did nothing when sth goes wrong.

I think the boss should be angry now and should understand winning is the most important thing for a team, even it is usually slow or so-called ugly. It is always better than nothing.

50% to win? Are you kidding me? We were talking about championship at the beginning. Now we are talking about whether we can go to playoffs. So ironically.

So, why don't we put landry and brooks in the court. Could we play any worse? At lease they can get some practice.

He shouldn't be fired after 18 games,We beat utah at there place,We beat the suns at there place,We beat the spurs and there were several other games where we should have won. We have to take care of the little things and we will be alright. No need for neagtive, FIRE ,TRADE everyone panic.

The common sentiment is: the season is slipping away before our eyes but no one seems to have any urgency.

Who was the moderator in the chat tonight? I really like his or her (most likely his) rough and strict moderating. He / She would kick out chatters for the slighest mishabs.

I hope this is a letter which could be read by Tmac. As a fan of him, I have the same feeling as you. Everytime when people mention superstars with a strong mind and endeavoring to win every game, names like AI, KOBE, JORDAN.. pop up. Those people throw themself to the basket when game need them to and play with real hustle every time they're on the court. Tmac is the most talented player imo, but he never proves he has the ability to lead a team to a upper level. He needs to have a stonger will to bring us a champion!

Steve Francis was greatly missed tonight. If Battier (as important as he is to our defense) cannot start hitting open 3's again, I think we should move him to the bench, and start SF3 when he gets healthy. Our defense is giving up easy buckets anyways, might as well try to out score the other team. This would actually help Tmac in my opinion because he would not have to create as much, and even if he did, he would drive the ball more to the basket against taller, slower small forwards instead of shooting over them. Although Francis is not a great shooter, he knows how to take it to the basket and either finish or draw a foul or find Yao inside.

I don't mind Rafer starting, if he plays like he did most of tonight, not taking stupid shots and driving to the basket instead of relying on a 3 pointer which he doesn't hit very often. So I still think he should start, but he shouldn't finish games unless we desperately need a good ball handler;late in the game I'd rather see Francis at the point because of his ability to create on his own. Scola needs more time to adjust and needs to become consistant before he can be a starter.

There is nothing a coach can do when his players don't hit wide open shots. And to add on to that, give up easy bucket after easy bucket. Granted, the refs called a lot stupid fouls on the Rockets (Yao in particular) tonight, thats no exuse for not staying in front of your man. Good thing we're getting the tough part of our schedule in November, but the Rockets have to find a way to get it together and stay consistant or else changes may be needed.
