Thing is they were saying JVG and Yao had a one on one special workout and it looked like it was having a positive effect on Yao and then that ref calls that crap. That kind of call could put Yao in passive mode, and understandably so.
I can live with them calling the ticky-tack stuff when Yao is late on defense on the pick and rolls... but these cheap-ass offensive fouls are merely refs trying to minimize Yao's distinct advantage over other players (with his height). What is he supposed to do? Shoot fadeaways like Rik Smits? Be a girl like Shawn Bradley?
I think sometimes Yao wants to a deliver a deadly Palm strike to one of the thugs that mugs him, but the thing is when you're representing over a billion people, you can not afford to act like a thug yourself.
Thats EXACTLY what that ref did there. It was so obvious that was what he was doing. Of course you can see he's a young inexperienced ref, but still thats no excuse.
Got to hand it to JVG... he saw that his big man's confidence was lacking, had a special session for him, and made sure that his team got him involved EARLY and OFTEN. That's coaching at its finest...
man i know how it can be when you get down on yourself and you forget what you are good at sometimes. glad jvg and yao had a good one on one session.
t mac is threading aneedle with his passes to Yao, and giving it to him in just the right position. Keep doing that !
Our top priority this off season is to find a pure point guard( and a PF too). I just can't take this anymore, game in and game out , we've analyzed Yao to death but it always boils down to those timely passes from our guards which never seemed to arrive!
Damn... Yao was a minute away from playing the entire first quarter (hasn't been done much this year... or in his career). But, he picked up a cheapie 2nd foul (which he probably should have avoided).
Tmac is our best PG. We got a pair of score first PGs, not saying they are not good, but we need a pure PG that can knock down open shots when situation presents.
