one of the most enjoyable wins of the season

and we have two inconsiderate selfish YOF's steering the game thread into a Yao Ming b**** fest... if this isn't enough reason to get your ass banned, I don't know what is.

Don't worry. JVG is wise to rest Yao now. Even TMac played less minutes today. JVG is preparing for playoff.

If he didn't it's not because he didn't want to.

NBA coaches can only do so much in the development of a basketball player not too many of them are "teachers" and maybe Van Gundy isn't but he's not holding Yao back. The only person holding Yao back is himself, he's not 15 years old anymore, maybe some of us should start accepting Yao for who he is and not expect a great game from him every single night.

I have said in a previous thread the follwing:

T-Mac will be ready come playoff time (so will opponent defenders), the people who should be worried are McGrady's teammates, they should be worried to keep up with him. This is especially directed towards Yao, because honestly, we will go as far as Yao's aggressiveness takes us. I have no doubt about that.

This is also directed towards 3 guys: Wesley, James, and Sura; they better have their shots dropping like in that 4-game roadtrip if this team is to do well and compete against top-notch 3-point shooting teams (Sonics, Suns, etc.)

As for McGrady? Barring recurring injuries, you will be pleased;)

I think this is totally untrue. If the last 30 games has taught us anything, it is that this team goes as far as TMac will take us. Yao playing well is a bonus, but really, I think is totally unnecessary. If TMac plays well, then this team will go far in the playoffs.

I could understand "IF" Ming was torching the NBA for 3/4 of the season and Van Gundy deciding to rest him for the playoffs

    but big BUT,

Yao was Far from having a blitzcrieg season, the guy has been a inconsistent mess, and now when the post season draws near, the guy is already in a funk with his minutes reduced game by game.

It is hardly justified or fair to expect Ming to perform over 20 and 10 in the post season based on his trend of reduced minutes and the team passing him by.

If we do lose the 1st round in the post season with Ming still averaging less than what we expect of him can we blame the guy? . . .

Side note 4 bloody rebounds? Does Ming suffer from
Rebound adverse syndrome? I'm disturbed and Perturbed by this disease in a supposed Center.

You bet! Yao playing well is unnecessary, that's why T-Mac has had so much success in the playoffs with the Magic.

How many points Tmac averaged in his playoff career so far?
How far did his team go?

We simply can not win in the west if all we have is TMacs no matter how good he is.

plus our role players have leveled off recently.

I'm pleased with the win, but Yao's play has concerned me. Would it kill the guy to grab a contested rebound? He's got Mehmet Okur or Chris Humphries knocking the ball away from behind every time the ball bounces in his direction. I think that Deke is getting more time because when he is in the game, we are such a better rebounding team. Yao better pick it up or the playoffs will be very ugly for us in terms of rebounding.

    He'll get back on track

a nice post from a presumptive (or presumed) "yao hater".

    I agree with the post.

and I think most fans who claim 'whatever win the game now' or 'he is just resting yao for playoff' are just bunch of big birds who have their heads in the sand.

You forget Yao played every summer, and played year round for 3 (THREE) years. He "hit the wall" every late March/early April. JVG knows better.

Yao, is just letting the pressure get to him!!

When he plays in the flow of the game, he can be down right amazing. When he comes to play against Shaq, more often than not he plays a heck of a game. But that isn't consistent.

jeez I just realized Mcgrady -who blew the lid off- and mike james -who played less minutes- outrebounded Yao.
