danjojo is obviously a racist geek, so I dont see the point of really paying him attention. Getting to the free throw line in a off-shooting night is a good thing, but Yao seriously needs to learn how to handle the double team better. We're talking Ewing here as an asssistant coach, so hopefully he will improve. Francis is just dumb. I really dont wanna say that he's not a PG or lack basketball iq. He really is just a dumb person in general. Listen to his interviews, or watch his last dunking contest (2001?) where players had to copy classic dunks, he couldn't even remember the dunk he just saw 10 seconds ago. It's pretty obvious that he needs to give up the PG spot to someone else. Or He can remain the PG on the roster and bring the ball up and stuff, but somebody else has got to set up the halfcourt offense and be given the ball on fastbreaks.
Bottom line. Yao was shooting poorly and turned the ball over. He still had some trouble with rebounding. It was not a good game by Yao. Steve was bad last night. He had a good first half, but the second half even his defense was bad. He couldn't shoot, and made too many offensive fouls which are credited as TO's. Cat was bad last night. Cat was a non-factor the entire game. Mo T. couldn't play defense on Kirilenko and he tore us up. Cato's weaknesses were exposed last night, and he didn't have his normal impact on defense. It's foolish to blame any particular player for last night when they all stunk it up. Let's be evenhanded in our criticism.
Not really. Looking at the stats only is what is stupid. If rebounds are falling through the guys hands night after night and giving the other team second chance points, it's fair to criticize that.
I should add that to just blame Yao is stupid as well, since everyone on the team except for Pike was pretty awful last night.
Rockets have more talent, but the Jazz knows how to play team basketball. Without Karla and Flopton, I actually don't hate the Jazz. IF Utah keeps this up, Sloan will get my vote as coach of the year.
Yao's problem came from Jazz's physical contact. He is still not used to play physical basketball, give him time to adjust...In CBA, Yao got beaten the first 3-4 years before he finally dominate. I believe giving him two or three more years, he will dominate as well. For Steve, it is not his physical problem, it is the mental problem.. I hate to talk any more about it.
What, are u a six grader or what? "get blocked 6 times per game." We need to send you back to first grade to relearn your calculation.
Haha, you're even dumber than I thought. With the per 48 min stat, you got guys like Reggie Evans, Robert Tractor Traylor and David West in the top ten. While guys like Jermaine Onel and Zach Randolph and ranked 22nd and 24th. Damn those guys suck and can't rebound!! Anyways like someone else everyone mentioned, you're just a racist, so I won't respond to a racist such as yourself anymore.
Damm no edit button. Haha, you're even dumber than I thought. With the per 48 min stat, you got guys like Reggie Evans, Robert Tractor Traylor and David West in the top ten. While guys like Jermaine Oneal and Zach Randolph are ranked 22nd and 24th. Damn those guys suck and can't rebound!! Anyways like someone else already mentioned, you're just a racist, so I won't respond to a racist such as yourself anymore.
Yes, yes, yes, it is Stevie's fault, it is Yao's fault, it is Cat's fault! Boki can't shoot, Cato can't shoot, JJ can't shoot, Yao can't rebound, Stevie and Cat can't pass...... And u guys can't get a real life?
These stats that you are complaining about are great if you took a couple of things into account: 1. He's a second year player. We all know that yao isn't as strong as a lot of people but NOBODY is going to get every rebound that comes their way. And holding on to the offensive rebound can't be as easy as some here think, especially when you're surrounded by 3 guys, and 2 of them have blocked the hell out of your team all game. 2. Yao only played 31 mins in the game. He was in foul trouble early, but (gasp) adapted to the fouls the refs were calling and found a way to score regardless of being shoved in the back practically everytime he tried to shoot. Even Worrelll commented on how Osterfat gave Yao a push in the back on every turnaround jumper he took. After he realized this he took it strong to the hole. He got blocked a couple of times but got to the line a lot to help put some points on the board when almost no one could. Yao was aggressive, which is what everyone was expecting him to improve on. Regardless of just 31 mins. played, Yao still nabbed 10 boards and with guys like Duncan, Garnett, and Wallace averaging 11-13rpg in 38-39 mins a game, I think Yao is doing pretty decent, even though some people think Yao is a total puss on the boards. 3. Yao played great D on his men. He could've gotten more blocks when he help on penetrators but tried to stay out of foul trouble and played a little too cautiously at times. But look who killed us all game long Kirilenko, lopez, Williams, Raja bell?, stevenson even hit some wide open jumpers...it was the perimeter D. Wide open shot after wide open shot. Utah's pgs had a combined 20pts/9assists/7 rebounds on 9-17 shooting. Hell, everyone thinks AK47 had a great game and he did, but he had only 3 more points than Yao on 5 more shots. 4. Yao missed a lot of shots. When you take that many shots you're expected to put up a lot of points. PPS ratio. Yao was 1.3 PPS last night...better than anyone on either team(except Borchardt who took 3 shots). He contributed a TON last night, more than anyone else did. 20/10 on 15 shots in 31 mins is great. I'm sure anyone will take that . But saying Yao should be blamed like steve when steve threw up 13/3 on 15 shots with 8 TOs isn't right.
you guys saying yao is a p***y at rebounding, think about this: we have cato in there and he will take some away, and we have francis who is a very willing rebounder also. and danjojo, you just showed everyone how smart you are with that last post. gg dude.
The team has a slogan this year. It's 'No More Excuses.' I don't get into bashing any of our players. They are all learning a new system. Yao has been playing that position all of his life, Steve started playing the PG at around age 20. None of that matters, there are 'No Excuses.'
1. Look at my post about no excuses. That's the Rockets saying this year, and not mine. 2. I was happy that Ming seemed a bit more agressive this game. There have been flashes of it in other games too. I think he's learning and will be great for our team. 3. Yao's D in the Utah game was mediocre. He's played better before. I don't blame him for Kirilenko, though. I'm not trying to blame any one player for that loss. 4. I am saying that Yao should be blamed like Steve. He shot poorly, turned the ball over at a key time, didn't rebound all that well and since he was part of the team, and part of the reason we lost he deserves some of the blame. Steve played a good first half, and then did less than nothing the second half. He didn't play good D, he didn't shoot well, he turned the ball over, and Steve also deserves some of the blame for the loss. I hate losing, I love our team, and every player on it. I might wish that Boki didn't get any minutes, or that Moochie had much fewer minutes too, but that's about it. I don't mind passing out blame where blame is due. Last night it was due all around.
