Yao had a bad game (confidence problem against Boozer?)...but no matter - TMac has been sensational, looked like his old self. And our BENCH is so deep it is really scary!! Scola has been very impressive in his 2nd game. Way to go!
Well after a game like this, there really isn't much to say in his defense, unfortunately. The only thing I can come up with is that he played OK in the second half (8 points 7 boards 1 assist 2 steals 5 blocks), and he had 5 blocks. Not much good from Yao today. I am kind of concerned about the elbow brace, I remember Yao wearing that same kind of brace at the beginning of 2004-2005, and he said he was having trouble with the brace, and if you remember he struggled during that period.
Imagine how good this team will be once RA gets the team implementing more of his offense. I am glad to see that the D is not totally bad and yes, I must admit JVG instill some good things in regards to the playing D.
For the first time since Tmac came to rox, Rocket's bench is better than Utah's. Last year's playoff series, Rocket's bench got outscored by Utah's bench every game. tonight, 30-13.
just read the recap from Yahoo, i hope it's true: By DOUG ALDEN, AP Sports Writer November 1, 2007 AP - Nov 1, 10:25 pm EDT More Photos SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Tracy McGrady scored 47 points and the Houston Rockets got a little revenge for last season's opening-round playoff loss by beating the Utah Jazz 106-95 Thursday night. Mike James added 15 points -- two more than the Jazz reserves combined -- and Chuck Hayes had 24 rebounds for the Rockets, who improved to 2-0 under new coach Rick Adelman and have yet to play a home game this season. Carlos Boozer had 30 points and 16 rebounds, and Mehmet Okur finished with 16 points and 10 boards, but after dominating the first quarter the Jazz tapered off in the second and never recovered.
Great win! I won't go about hoisting championship banners just yet though. It is only two games in and there will be games where we will struggle. Hopefully our depth can help us avoid that predicament. Other than that, go TMac!
All I can say was this... how many times did we see TMAC dunk last year? not that many I would say (and yes I watched every game I could on Sopcast). Also, don't be so hard on Yao.. he came through for us when we really needed him to with a hook shot and that feed from TMac when he was down low... I think we needed all our players tonight. Also, I still wouldn't want to play the Jazz in the first round.. they are just too much of a grind it out team and I would rather not put our players through that for 4-7ish games. Anyways, great win!
TMac and our Bench are the factors of our victory tonite. I may even rank the contributions of Mike James, Scola, Bonzi and the bench slightly greater than TMac's 40+ performance because they injected energy to our game when our starters played like crap in the 1st quarter. Yao's sloppiness didn't create much damage tonite but he seriously needs to pick his old game back asap.
That was a great game. Plus it is nice to start the season 2-0. Great to see our bench perform when one of our superstars has a bad night. GO ROCKETS!
People are forgetting that Francis, Brooks, and even Snyder hasn't played yet. Our team is stacked. I was unsure about MJ coming back to Houston, but man was I wrong. Rafer really does belong at the end of the bench though.
