People just have very high expectations about the team after all the offseason efforts....It's understandable how disheartened you can be especially when hypes are high, and you want an outlet here ;)

I don't see what the problem is? Yao was doing great, but Rafer is not the only one getting the ball to Yao. Plus, the man runs plays that JVG tells him to run. If it's an iso for McGrady, then that's what they will run.

I am not a Rafer fan but get real guys, Tracy as one of our leaders really lost this game. He should have taken over. Although I love Tracy, he really messed up today. He will be back, and will be victorious in our home opener.

By all means. They deserve a little bashing.

We lsot tonight b/c we palyed like panzies on defense. 97 points on any other night should be good enough to beat the JAZZ!!

Sometimes it takes more of a leader to put down the bricklaying trowel rather than single-handedly takeover the building of the empire state building.

I am a little concerned of our matchups against Dallas.
    Howard > TMac
    Dirk >>>>>>> Battier

I think we are in big trouble. I just hope TMac is not past his prime yet.

Amare is coming back from microfracture surgery...have i played basketball????.. what's that got to do with anything...contradicting myself  dude, neither you or I know what it's like to be an athletic freak of nature...but I know this the man's being playing basketball and getting into shape for the past month...i don't need to be a rocket scientist to put two and two together.

paying him MAX money so we can get his leadership  can he get 9 assists a night?

I am going to start lose faith if we start the season 0-5 or 1-4. 2-3 or above is good in my book.

We played horrible defense and were bullied inside by seemingly every Jazz player, just zero interior defense; it was a layup drill out there.

Obviously, we looked completely out of sync and played like a team with a bunch of newcomers with little to no chemistry...which WE ARE!!

Also, give credit to the Jazz, they looked pretty solid, and it's just further proof that it will be anything but a 'cakewalk' just to make the playoffs this year in the West, let alone get a favorable seeding.

McGrady and Yao didn't look good, both looked immobile and somewhat lethargic -- especially true with McGrady. Shots were not dropping in for the majority of the game, and then suddenly we started making shots from the outside, but it was too late by then.

Overall, not much 'unexpected' here, we all know that it will take a while for this team to 'gel' and show us what they're made of.

At this stage, the most disappointing aspect of the game was our defense...I am pretty sure that JVG is fuming inside that little head of his right now, and ripping into the guys. But in all honesty, it wasn't all on them; that's what will happen more often than not when you play Battier at the 4 spot against a Western Conference with a bunch of big, talented PF that will undoubtedly torch us inside.

AFAIC, there is no doubt that the Rockets must be concerned -- and will likely be alarmed -- by the abuse we will receive at the hands of opposing PFs. Moreover, the PG position is a huge wild card that could literally make or break our season, and I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if this forces JVG's hands to designate McGrady as our full-fledged PG, with Rafer as a backup.

Had we made half of the missed freebie and half of the blown up layups, we would have been right there to close the game with Utah.
Mutombo needs to work on how to put the ball in with nobody guarding the rim.

    Exactly.

I was just as pissed off as anyone else on this forum, if not more. It's the first game. I hope we wipe out the Mavs that way all the haters will start jumping on the bandwagon.

I dunno why everyones goin off on Tmac, its only one game. Tmac had to do what he had to do. He was shootin well in the first half, and at the end he ran out of gas, which u can tell by his shot. Its only one game, lets see how he bounces back and plays aganist dallas. If he does the same thing, and we lose*, den we may have a problem, but for now, its only one game.

It's not that we are pissed that his shot was not there. It's the poor decisions he made at the end of the game.

    Howard > TMac...

    HAHAHAHAHHA yea ok...

Also its a little depressing to see Rudy Gay light up the freaking score card and Battier have a bad night, hopefully this doesn't keep happening or man what a trade that was....

i think the refs robbed us...despite playing poor...they slowed the game down for 3 quarters not letting the ROX develop any sort of rhythm on offense...they were calling fouls on every single play in the first 3 quarters pretty much..

tiger, I agree except one minor part. I actually feel better about Rafer than our off guard.

But we do have an athleticism problem and a PF problem. SA with TD and Parker and Dal with Dirk and Terry just seem to hit our weak spots. And Dallas for sure has loads more athletcism too, if the Jazz could get to all those loose balls 1st, what do we expect with Dallas.

Yes it is game 1, but it was what should be constants (defense and rebounding) that more let us down. We shot 10-22 from 3 land and lost by 10, never would have seen that coming.
