Looks like Yao's going to play less than 24 min again tonight.

In some capacities, I agree. But #34 has so much meaning in Houston. I hate watching some scrub Texan wearing it.

To me, the best 34 in Houston will always be Campbell. No disrespect to Olajuwon or Ryan.

As long as the current team on the court is playing well, it doesn't matter who is playing, Yao or anyone else.

The weird thing is, the last few games we have made runs without Yao, which is something I noticed. Is that because with Mutombo in he seals the interior better than Yao, and they can run more without him in there? I don't know, but it is worrying me that that has been the case recently

I think it's because teams wear themselves down defending Yao and relax when he's out so that when he comes back in they'll still have energy to guard him.

If this was mid season or if we were losing I would be ticked off at this...

But since the playoffs are coming up -I don't mind him getting some rest.
The playoffs pretty much consist of a half-court game, so Yao will be utilized a lot more then....( I hope)

Its also a case of the opposing teams defense being focused only on Yao.

When he goes out, they really don't focus on anybody... and JVG's motion offense perfectly exploits that.

Yupp. They had to carry us in this game and they're making it happen.

Damn Deke! Making Yao look bad with his OUTSTANDING play.

Man, I can't say enough about Mutombo, This guy is worth every penny AND more, and he will not be as affordable as we might think come off-season, but saying that he is a priority come next season is an understatement. Alogn with a PF signing, he is more important a signing than anyone else. I think Yao's game has tremendously improved on the defensive end due to Mutombo's influence.

Oh if he was just a few years younger:(

Have you guys noticed that Van Gundy doesn't even bother to jump start Yao anymore.

When he had bad games in the past Van gundy would b**** about Ming not showing up when Tracy was back in or something to that effect to lite a fire under this guy.

Now Gundy doesn't even care how much Ming produces or not.

I think he may have lost alot of faith in the guy or he is just tired of having to b**** about Ming in the media to get good perfomances out of him.

Maybe the team is playing too good for that to come out, but this team looks like it's just passing Yao by.

    Uhh... nice selective memory.

Right after the Minnesota loss, he said "YAO MING, myself, and Tracy will have to lead us back to winning... end of story."

He doesn't have to baby Yao anymore... Yao knows what he has to do to be successful in this league.

Without Yao, out pace picked up, and that's our back court's game at best.

EXCELLENT and gutsy defensive effort by our guys, and the WBPS are doing their job on offense.

Barry 1-10 though, I can't believe that for someone who has such a nice looking shot as he does. I hope he gets going.

But excellent overall effort by the team.

I don't think you will see Yao for much in this game, I think JVG will keep him out and play smaller lineup to rest Deke if he has to.

Nah, Yao should be coming in shortly to backup Deke. ;)
