Ugh ... we can't win the must-win games and we can't lose the must-lose games. We don't suck because that would be an excellent trait at this point... instead, we simply thrive at mediocrity.

And further dim New Orleans people's playoff hopes in the process. :D

Must-lose game? Well Clutch, consider this victory shattered the possibility of a potentially ignominious worst all-time NBA divisional record for the Rockets, you may want to cheer up a little bit.

Finally a GREAT TEAM EFFORT and most importantly Rockets WON!!!! :D

    The next five games:-
Cavs, Sonics, Wizards, Lakers and Sonics

IMO, are all WIN-able!!! Hope this game will start a winning streak!

True, that's a positive. I'm happy about that.

I've resisted the "tanking" urge all season but come on ... the 6-game slide should have made abundantly clear that this team is BAD. Real bad. And what makes matters worse is that next year doesn't bring a ton more hope, even if everyone is healthy. They need more assets around Yao and McGrady (if he can come back healthy) and the difference between the 8th pick and the 12th pick (not even including the higher chance for a top 3 pick) could be very big this year.

Everyone's been saying that this year's draft is pretty weak. So the difference between the 8th and 12th spot won't be that big. How the Rockets do in the draft will depend more on scouting and making good judgements about talent and fit (which unfortunately we haven't been too good at doing).

There is absolutely no question new blood is desperately needed for this depleted team, but one game is unlikely to affect our quest for "inknown commodity." If we are talking about the difference between a top three and a 10th lottery pick, then perhaps it's a different story. That is, tonight's moral victory may turn out to be hollow and it will likely have a negative repercussion. I am not familiar with all the new NBA hopefuls in the college basketball circle, but I am doubtful the skill level between an 8th and a 12th pick is very noticeable.

Exactly. We have to be practical. The higher the pick the better.

I paid cable TV to get NBALP to watch Rox and it cost me $500+ just to watch them stuggle on TV. But I will be ok to write if off if tanking the season get us a better pick. Those who yell "tanking is irresponsible for fans", are you putting your interest ahead the team's best interest? Do you not want them to tank just because you have tickets to a coming game?

Amare was drafted at 9, and Wade at 10. Sometime that one slot make a huge difference. There is no gurantee but it may help a lot to have 8th instead of 12th.

alright, so he was drafted at 5. My point is there is still chance to get good player at 8-12 range. Our own superstar Tracy was drafted at 9, and Kobe at 13. That 8th pick may worth a lot more than the 12th if we make the right choice in the right situation. If we lose all the games left, we may even end up with a top 5 pick. You cannot say a top 5 pick is not of great value.

But it took them a few seasons to develop. Do Rockets and their fan has the patience/luxury to wait? Or maybe there is really no choice but wait.

I consder that its going to take at least two more offseasons of rebuilding to overcome the mess we are in at this time. if we are lucky with T.McG we could be back to a 50 win season next year . Rockets Fans will be forced to be patient as in this era of CD and JVG we have a lot of mistakes and bad judgement to overcome.
If T McG is unable to play as a regular contributor it might take much longer as the mess really thickens and becomes complex.

Right now, getting the highest pick is the easiest way to improve our team (besides getting tmac the right treatment). Whether you want to draft a project or a known college vet, the 8th pick is a lot better than the 12th pick.

Some fans (not all) are only arguing against higher picks because they have tickets to coming games. Shame on you.
