I saw the same thing. That better not happen when the real deal starts. It was really disturbing.

Yeah, but stro doesn’t command the attention Yao does from the other teams defense and it makes it much more easy to get Stro the ball than Yao.. plus stro can get the ball much further out of the paint and work his way down toward the basket than Yao can.. I'm not worried, JVG knows that most of the shots need to go through Tracy and Yao..

Ding-ding-ding...we have a winner folks. Byron Scott is not going to let Yao kill him in both halves. The Hornets' second half rotations were a lot crisper and the Rockets' came out flat on both ends of the floor. (39 points in Q3 for NO/OK). Not to mention that Moochie did not play a very efficient game. The offense really stalled when personal fouls sent Alston to the bench in the second half.

Barry got a T in the 4th quarter, and we lose by a point?

What the hell kind of veteran leadership is that?

well, i was at the game in my full rocket garb, and i was pretty disappointed with our pefromance, from yao not getting the ball enough to a stupid T by john barry. but oh well, preason doesnt matter as long as we dont suck that bad next week. I was glad for the hornets to get a win. Ive never seen people in oklahoma get this excited over anything except for OU or OSU football, so hopefully the fans will keep on coming and keep the team here.

I am deeply disturbed by some posters' ability to make excuses. For all those that said the Hornets looked awful, well, we looked pretty godawful in the 2nd half.

Furthermore, does it really matter that TMac didn't play or Stro didn't get many minutes? Are we not a better team even without them?

Then we have some others that said "I'm glad they won because they just wanted it so much." That's loser talk. Where were those talk in the 1st half, before we blew the 22 pt lead?

Or my fav, it's just preseason. Well, it's preseason for the Hornets too and their best starters were PJ and Boki. I think that pretty much sums it up.

How about giving credits to the Hornets for erasing a 22 pt lead? How about saying that they just wanted it more, and got it? I say, good for them. They were the better team, at least last night and deserved to win.

Yeah, I was there too. It was really a great environment. I think the Hornets will be sticking around next year. Opening night is going to be nuts. Anyway, back to the Rockets, it's preseason. I didn't mind that the Hornets won. It gives fans here a little hope, and maybe that will keep them coming. Yao looked good. He just seems to get a little more comfortable every year. I think this willl be a great year for him. DA was amazing. He is going to be huge if he stays healthy. It's going to be a great year.

Well I also didn't like the fact that the offense went away from Yao when the lead started slipping. And to compound the problem, when Yao did get his touches, he repeatedly stood there waiting for the slowest, softest double team in history and then passed the ball out.

Yao still doesn't recognize when he needs to just take over the game. This has happened a lot in the past, where a lead starts to slip, and the guards don't make a strong push to get Yao the ball, and Yao doesn't force the issue by looking to score when we really need a bucket. Remember the play last night where Yao split the double team to get an "and 1". That is the type of aggressivness that Yao needs to show when the team is in trouble.

One good thing I noticed is that Ewing was all in Yao's face during a timeout after a few of Yao's ineffective postups. It's obvious that Pat was goading Yao into stepping up. Unfortunately Yao only played one or two more possessions before he was done for the night. I would have liked to see how Yao responded to being challenged like that.

I know that Ewing for some reason gets a lot of heat on this board for not being Dream or Moses. But if the only thing he brings to the team is to get in Yao's face to fire him up, then he'd be well worth his salary.

The Rockets made their contribution to the Hornets bonding with their new fans. I think the game was managed in a way to give the Hornets a good chance at winning. The ironic grin on JVG before the last Rocket play, right after PJ Brown scored, told the whole story. This was a game they wanted to lose and the Hornets made that a difficult task to accomplish. But it all worked out. Go ahead and TIVO the game right before the last play, go in slow motion as JCG is walking back to the bench. Some ones brown clad arm claps him on the back, and then he turns with the sly happy grin. We blew a 22 point lead, we are losing to the Hornets, no anger, no stress, just a happy grin. and I am happy how it worked out. The Rocks had a nice workout and the almost sellout crowd in Oklahoma City, that was rocking the house, got to participate in a feel good, come from behind, it felt like the playoofs, win.

I second that. With T-Mac out, Yao should have demanded the ball and been extra aggressive in attacking the basket. I hope that was JVG's message to him after the game: "Demand the ball and your teammates will give it to you, start acting like a superstar".
