Serieously, if I was Yao, I would talk with the owner and the manager: either me out or the coach out, there is no the 3rd option. This team has been playing some unwatchable games, even they won some of them. You can call me a YOF. This team plays no defense, no thansition defense, no pick & roll defense, no helping defense. This team plays out-of-sync offense: a simply fronting would deny the stars from the ball easily. This team puts Bonzi as a pure shooter, Yao another Divaz, MJ all by himself. Bravo, this coach transforms a top 5 team in the league (with two major injuries) into a lottery-bound team in just one month. I have to solute to him, as well those fans of him early this season.
Some already told you we WERE 6-1, not anymore. But what you probably forgot is that we clearly won just 3 of those 6 games. We were close to a loss with Lakers, Grizz and Bobcats and all of you was saying: "Who cares, a W is a W" the same pathethic sentence of the last 4 years. Now, of course we just played 13 games and ROX can win the remaining 69. Of course there is a new system to learn. But for me 13 games are enough to start judging this team, the work made, and the players. And to be honest, there is nothing good till now, NOTHING! Surely some things will fix in the near future, surely Head and Alston will makes some 3, Yao will score 30 and T-Mac will eat some opponents alive driving and dunking the hell out of them. And surely the ROX will win 50 games making us happy and hoping to be title contenders. But then in the playoffs the same problems will came up, because our players will not show any improvement but just sporadic good games, just like they did in the latest years. Our superstars are soft and with no winning attitude, not yesterday, not today, not tomorrow. And the rest of the team are just a bunch of mediocre guys, especially our starting PG so beloved by RA.
Yep, you said it plainly about Yao and T-Mac. May I say that they are just average players now? They sure looked that way in last night's game vs the Heat.
We have a better roster this year than last year with a worse system. Les Alexander got cross at Van Gundy and canned him. Les is a proud man and he won't look back on that mistake. Les Alexander hired Adelman and will stick with him at least for 2 seasons (unless we don't make the playoffs this season- a possibility), but Les is a proud man and he will likely stick behind Adelman for 2 seasons min. Adelman is a smart coach and will eventually turn things around, I think, it might happen this season, but it might take 1-2 yrs. We might as well get used to it, I think the coaching change set us back.
In the 4th quarter, Heat did a good job took the ball away from Tmac's hands, and Rox did a better job took the ball away from Yao's hands.
I disagree a bit. I think the coaching change exposed us (our roster) rather than set us back. Gundy's defense covered a lot of our offensive weaknesses and we could "ugly-ball" teams in the regular season, but the hustle couldn't save us in the playoffs, when Jazz played lockdown D AND still had good offense. This team with van gundy as head coach is STILL a first round playoffs loser. I hope Adelman can change this....looks dim right now, but eh, its still 2007
i think if we "tweak" a few things, offensively we'll be great. i think b/c JVG has made a lot of coaches fall in love w/ hayes for some reason. yes he's a great hustle player, but he shouldn't start. i think we HAVE to start scola and play him 33-35 minutes. he got 36 mins tonight so he might as well start. if we're going to keep alston in, then since we remove an offensive player from our bench, timne to activate francis. w/ wells out, this is another chance for francis to play. hopefully francis can show he can be a big-time player for us.
btw, if we somehow are behind in the 4th or lose, i DARE the crowd to chant "fire adelman" like the knicks crowd did w/ isiah. i know the frustration w/ adelman is even getting to the chron writers, esp. blinebury.
Hey, we did that with JVG last year and it worked! It turned the team around! In fact I remember being at some vintage JVG games where I thought it was the worst offensive performance I had EVER seen the Rockets play, on tv or otherwise.
If ever Adelman's system will work, the earliest would be the end of the year. But Jon Barry even said that it took Sacramento 3yrs to pull together in this system. That's a scary thought....and to think the rockets new slogan is...Its Time... The fans of houston can't wait another year to get passed the first round!! Call me a fairweathered fan but its time to find a new team!!
Im just wondering....is the problem the coach and the new system or is it our stars not having any heart? I think its the latter thus we never got passed the 1st round even with different coaches!
If Scola starts, who else is gonna score off the bench? Scola is fine where he is unless James and Bonzi steps up. It doesnt matter who starts, its who finishes and wins the game for us!
He can tweak one thing and immediately make our offense much better; he can stick Yao back into the low post and keep him there. McGrady got more good looks from Yao kickouts than he does now. Today's game was particularly sickening, and compounded by the fact that Adelman apparently thinks Yao's future will be like Vlade Divac. Ridiculous. Utter BS. Adelman is ruining Yao and something has to be done about it. Francis and Scola will not save us. Scola might play 5 minutes tomorrow and commit 4 fouls. He's going against a physical athletic PF in Kenyon Martin and will likely pick up cheap fouls in bunches. Francis will make the offense even more stagnant than it is now. If we're going to run a stagnant offense at least get the ball to your most efficient scorer in a good position to score i.e. FEED THE BALL TO YAO IN THE LOW POST.
