I could understand if this was a "fluke" 4th quarter break down. But when this happens for the past 3 games, barely failing to break 80 points a game, with the talent we have, sorry, but everyone is at fault (except Yao), including JVG. His rotation pattern has been horrible. Pick and roll offense is not going to work without TMAC. Make an adjustment. Players are just standing there without any movement.
wish we had someone like Ben Gordon to come off the bench to go crazy when everyone is cold like this. Hopefully when we get Tmac back.. defenses will collapse and our guys can get better shots...
I think it's fair to say that while our collective IQ last season (once the trades were made that is) was pretty high (and one could argue we were better collectively as a team than the individual pieces would indicate), our collective IQ this season is much lower, and the team collectively is lesser than its individual parts would indicate. Sometimes certain players just don't fit the system. IMO, the 'blueprint' for the Rockets should be T-Mac + Yao + a bunch of sharp-shooting guards, not ballhandlers, not anything else; we need guys similar to what the 94-95 Rockets had as far as shooters are concerned, so they can feed off our two star players. Otherwise, missing all those outside shots have been the difference between wins and losses in ALL three games -- not defense or lack of effort.
Didn't even look like you watched the game in the 4th quarter. Try actually watching the game in the future before posting asinine comments. Thanks.
The sad thing is that we are clueless in the 4th quarter when the opposing team tightens on both ends. We just collapse.
no, but at least he realized he sucked at offense about 20 games into last year and just let tmac decide what to do. and what is up with the ft's. we have a bunch of pretty good shooters on this team and it's a brickfest at the line.
if you pay attention, you would have noticed that the reason yao did not get the ball too much is because he could not get position on mourning... he was fighting for position WAY out beyond the paint, and even then he was getting pushed around... not the best time to get him the ball. that said, obviously he has been the only guy keeping us from getting blown out. i noticed that during the last couple of minutes, he seemed to have a little more energy, and set picks, fought for position, etc. with some passion - that's a good sign. the problem is, with mcgrady out, nobody can create, which is a problem especially down the stretch. so what can we do to get better? wait for t-mac. i'm no expert, but it's always seemed that the last couple minutes are generally the time for guards and wing players to step up...
Getting tired setting picks doesn't mean not wanting the ball. He was battling for position all throughout the 4th and got the ball only a few times. Mourning did a better job defending but the guards didn't help Yao out either.
JVG completely relied on Yao's offense in the fourth quarter. Yao was not only tired but the heat geared up the D on Yao. and the rockets just couldn' t make a move, didn't know what to but hit a bad shot. Bad coaching...
I knew the Rockets would miss T-Mac, but I never thought they'd miss him this much. Don't adjust your screen Rocket's fans, the Rockets really are as bad as they look.
That game was ours, we should have won it. That offense is really lost. Alston has been really dissapointing. He is lost on defense and cant hit anything on offense. I am really wanting to see Luther head as a starter.
No ****......14 yr old HS freshman would've seen the same openings we all saw to get the ball into Yao. Every time he fought for position and there was a 2 second window to get the ball into him and the guards just froze up I was like WTF. Pass the man the f*ckin ball!!! Then to watch Jason Williams go down and abuse Alston 20 feet from the basket 1 on1 was just ridiculous. I mean he was getting separation of 5-6 feet on his shots. F*ckin Alston wasn't even close to getting a hand up anywhere near him.
