I really do not understand what we're doing on offense, because the way they rotated and defended Sengun when he caught the ball should've at least have us pass it around more quickly for an open drive and allow for cutters to put pressure on them deeper in the paint that either leads to a lay-up, pass to Sengun, pass to the corner or at least a better shot attempt (foul) than these contested threes. Green just standing around in the corner when FVV was struggling to find an open guy at one point in the 3rd drove me nuts. Speaking of driving, Cam and Green really need to understand you cannot just run over people and Green in particular should really master the euro step, because there's no reason for a guy with his athleticism to be that bad in transition. Our transition offense in general is just awful, we either drive into traffic with 2-3 guys or hoist a 3. Holiday did it twice in a row when he had at least 2 guys in front of him that could've forced a foul. Not impressed. Lastly, even though we are short handed, Ime has to find better combinations on the floor. Holiday, Thompson & Cam is just too much to overcome in terms of size and defensive skill. I also did not understand why that long stretch with Aaron & Tate there at the end, could've used a Jeff or Jabari for defensive purposes, the latter in particular even though he had a rough game due to not being involved much on offense so just started taking shots. All in all, we deserved to lose, but the effort that Ime keeps harping on will get old quick. Btw who chose for us to wear black should be fired, the court is already quite dark with all black around the court, hard to sometimes see our guys.
Tate does the intangibles and has drastically improved his corner 3. Not sure how you've upgraded Cam over him already
Behold! Gluttony on wheels at unbeatable prices! I can add your Rafael Stones back @Ankara1923 @WestendMassive @Roomba @DeBeards
Tate has improved on the wing and in the corner, but that isn't saying much. Any serious contest of his shot results in a miss, and off the dribble, he can't consistently initiate and put pressure on a defense. He's more of a safety valve than a threat. I love Tate's professionalism, hustle, grit, and tenacity. He just doesn't have the shot-making ability. Cam, on the other hand, has an emerging range of tools on the drive and is already a steady, NBA-level shooter at 19 years old. He consistently puts defenders in a bind or on a poster. I'd rather watch Cam develop his skills and learn on the job than hope that Tate gets hot from the outside. I guess when Brooks is back to full strength (and assuming Eason remains on minutes watch), we could rotate Cam in as a small-ball 4 option. (To me, Jabari is gritting it out. His shot would be much better if he could have several days off to get healthy.) As long as Cam is healthy, play him 15-20 minutes a game. If other people (Green, Tate, Holiday, maybe even Jabari) lose minutes, so be it.
This game made more obvious than ever that we need a backup center. Stone needs to make that happen as soon as possible.
Hard to win when 2 of your starters combine for 5-23. A unbalanced roster isnt helping things (no credible back up 5 or dependable back up 1). Starting our 3rd string 3 because of injuries. And one advantage we had last year and dont this year is that teams didnt take us seriously, because they didnt have to. That allowed us to sneak up on teams once in a while. The Rockets arent sneaking up on anybody this year.
Surely there's a warm body center available somewhere. Mason Plumlee's out of LAC's rotation. Chris Boucher's only getting 14mpg. Someone, anyone please.
Yeah you're not watching games bro. Tate is very good at penetrating, getting in the lane & finishing with his left consistently. He's also hitting his corner 3. The problem is he doesn't shoot enough. But defensively he's very solid. Cam is better offensively but has too many defensive lapses as a rookie. It's expected but he doesn't deserve minutes over JT yet. Tate does too many little things
Cam is missing too many assignments and that is why he and Amen are slowly getting more minutes. When they get those assignments down, I think they will take Tate’s minutes and some of Holiday’s. Tate does know the defensive rotations better, but is not that great of a defensive player in my opinion. He is an absolute foul machine. Brooks has the same problem, but is a much better defensive player and is a force on the offensive side of the ball as is Tari.
