We need to run more Tmac/Yao pick-and-roll.

Yao nneds to learn how to properly run the pick and roll. Pick, rotate and lock the defender, on your back, run hard to the basket, fade out for a jumper, etc.

Yao picks but fails to turn, he just slips...again, something that can be effective depending on the situation to catch the defender off-guard, but should not be done regularly.

We lost because we couldn't hit our open shots. It's very hard to win when you can't hit a open shot. We stayed in there though, i'm just blah about this game. I'm not angry at the Rockets or at any one player, the shots just didn't go down.

We lost the game simply because the Heat has much better, or better complimentary role players for Shaq daddy: a bruising 4, sharp shooters in the two Joneses.

When can we have such players around Yao & TMac?

Well, we had to trade Cato and Cat to get T-Mac. We can't replace those guys in one season.

BTW, Yao was 6-6 from the field in the second half. We should have tried to get him more touches. Also, you know there is a problem when Yao and TMac are the only Rockets who scored in the 4th quarter.

How many wide open 3s we missed? Hubey correctly pointed out that the wide open shots are there for the Rockets to take but we could not hit nothing.

He failed to look back on one play but scored on 5 or 6 plays, but that's Yao's fault. He doesn't deserve to get the ball form Sura on PnR.

    Whatever man. Next.

I hope he will be out for a few games. Lets see if Barry can give Yao more touches. You guys can stop arguing.

Good game for the Rox. They play a really good Miami team on the road down to the wire pretty much.

It seems like our guys, no matter how good career shooters they are, can't make wide open jumpers, and the opponent's players never miss!

I know this isn't true, but I think we are one Michael Redd (in my dreams!) or Ray Allen away from being a really good team.

If it wasn't for Sura, the Rockets wouldn't have even been in this game today.

Now I know why fans of other teams that have volume shooters like TMac are content. It really looks like they are doing a lot to help their team, and they make tough shots, but they also miss a whole lot of shots too. Guys like Paul Pierce, Allen Iverson, and Kobe will make a lot of tough shots, but they just miss so many shots. It wows me as a fan to see them make the tough shot. Maybe that excuses them from missing the next few shots they jack up. The Rockets need someone who can make easy, boring shots and make a lot of them at a good percentage. However, I don't see Yao being that player. Not anymore.

I don't know if the Rockets can have a volume shooter lead them to a championship. Teams like the Celtics, Sixers, and Hornets have had failures in trying to use this approach.

But I think we are little bit too trigger happy behind the 3 pointer line. We don't have very good shooters, maybe Padgett is an exception:) That's why I don't think you have to shoot when you are open at the 3 pointer line, sometimes, a step closer to get a higher percentage 2 is better. Sometimes, when you are off, try something else, drive or just pass to another player and try another set is also valid options. For instance, Snow knows he's not a good shooter, he will be very careful of his shots selection, and even Nash, won't just shoot a 3, if he's open. Sometimes, it's even safer with a nons-shooter, Cato won't shoot a 3 no matter how open he is. If you are Ray Allen, you probably won't get that many open 3s. Therefore, if you are just a mediocre shooter, you have to be more careful with your shots selection. Besides, I really love how Nash drives and dishes, how Wade drives, hope we can have more drive, cut, slash in the game.

I was disappointed that McGrady didn't attack the rim much. When he doesn't get to the line we usually lose.

The kind of aggressive, in-your-face defense JVG employs is the exact opposite of the zone defense, and JVG employs this defense with over-the-hill defenders. That's just asking for guard penetration on every single possession.
