He got 4 offensive rebound, what else you expect from him? Every offensive rebound? You can say, if rockets did not miss some of their shots rockets would already have won.
That's because you are playing pickup games, everybody is trying to enjoy their game, if you cannot make the shot, sure enough you are not gonna get the pass. But this is a 82-game team season, you have a clear goal about what to do with the players who should be more involved. if you don't learn from it, I don't know how many wins you are gonna get and how far you can go.
Yao has his problem, no denying that. But I don't buy that if he starts to dominate then he will get the ball etc crap. If he don't get the chance, even the chance to make mistakes, he will NEVER ever close to dominating. Young players need support, while Hill was down, T-Mac was put in the driver's seat and was reminded every single day, that they trusted him, and they wanted him to lead and take responsibilities. When VC was signed with the Raptors, he was told that's his franchise. When TD started in Spurs, Robinson told him that he would have his back, and TD should take charge now. When KG started in the Wolves, Sam Mituell gave up the starting spot for KG, reminded him everyday that he is the future of the franchise. When Yao came to Houston, SF3 gave him warm hug from day one, he supported him, Rudy encouraged him every single game. You need more examples? I can give you more, remember how J. O'Neal and Brad Miller thrived in new teams? They were given more chance and trust. That's how you develop young players with great potentials. Since we are having T-Mac, I just thought it's even easier to develop Yao to help the team more, esepcially he wanted to join Yao, and he's actually looking for Yao during the games. But I am just wrong. By the way, I am NOT talking about Chinese team, but NBA. Yes, welcome to NBA, all those you are on your own, and tough talking, is just a show, same as Wrestling show. In reality, everyone needs a helping hand. I don't think a young player can be that vocal to other serior players that he sucks for not giving the ball. If someone can not realize it by himself, a young player's reminder won't work either. A cocky young guy is not welcomed anywhere, no matter how good he might be. I never let any super aggressive cocky guys pass my interview, none of my previous employers did. You know why? It's bad for team chemistry. Oh, yes, missed 3 passes in the past week is such a big deal for a big man, that he should be punished not seeing the balls. Sura is a great great energy guy, play tough defense, but his decision making sometimes frustrated me, especially playing with Yao. I can also realize as others, he's not Nash, and we can't afford Nash. But I just think they need to address it in the team meeting. JVG should ask them to get together and communicate. Ask them why. Ask Sura what kind of position he prefers Yao to be in, so that it could help his pass. Ask Yao when he prefers Sura to throw the pass etc. Communication is the key. Tough talking is nothing. By the way, I might buy the argument of risk of turnovers, if I don't think that Yao had one TO for 3 seconds violation in the whole game.
You people are blind saying it's all Yao's problem. Did you see 2 sequence in a row Yao was right open under the basket and ignored by Sura? The first one he tried a 3 and missed while Yao sealed his men,Yao tipped out the miss and open again, Sura passed to the other way and missed again.
My point is it's not as easy to get the ball to your center as you guys make it seem. The Heat have basically ignored Shaq the entire game. You guys act as if it's such a huge tragedy that Yao doesn't get more touches. Like he's the only big man in the entire NBA that has trouble getting the ball from his teammates. Apparently he's not.
what a horrible goaltend call... i'm not blaming Yao for us losing, but just saying that those boards were his.
