Sentiment shared. Its late and I find myself staring at the standings, switching back and forth between conference view and divisional view. I bet I'm not the only one...
i didn't get to watch the game tonight, but i will say that i am worried that rafer jacked up 18 shots... i mean, no matter how confident rafer is right now offensively, i don't think he is ever the type of player that merits 18 fga's. oh well... we won!!!
Anyone know if landry will be back in time for friday? He needs the bobcat game as a warm up for the lakers. Cant have him going up against Pau Gasol that many days after not playing in a real game.
I just want some sort of pennant in the rafters for this year. southwest division would be good, western confrence would be better, dare i say, nba would be best.
20 and still spinnin'! <object width="425" height="373"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/JTf_6885_5M&rel=0&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/JTf_6885_5M&rel=0&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b&border=1&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="373"></embed></object>
20 in a row , is it a dream ? borrow sentence from someone : wow! just wow ! It is a positive wow ,not a negative wow !
Something makes me uncomfortable: It seems some players are losing their confidence in shooting. This reminds me of those losing games...
^ dont worry. we were bound to get off nights.. the team should be able to bounce back and be ready next game though
The View from Atlanta #20 Houston 83, Atlanta 75 | Mar. 12, 2008 | Philips Arena It was 71-70 Houston with five minutes left, and the Rockets outscored Atlanta, 12-5 down the stretch as the vistors won their 20th consecutive game, 83-75 Wednesday. That win by the Rockets equalled the second longest in NBA history and dropped the Hawks to 26-38 on the season. Joe Johnson tied Tracy McGrady for game-high honors with 28 points, and Josh Smith registered a double-double with 16 points and a career-high 22 rebounds. Al Horford finished with 11. The Rockets' bench outscored Atlanta's 23-4. The Hawks reserves missed all 10 of their FG attempts. Both teams struggled in the first half, Atlanta making 32.4% of their shots, Houston 32 percent, but fortunately for the Hawks, they were able to take a one-point lead in the locker room, 33-32. Josh Smith was a high flyer all night, finishing with 16 points and a career-high 22 rebounds What You Really Need To Know The Hawks defense played exceptionally well, but the offense couldn't keep track when baskets were critical as the Rockets won their 20th straight game. Atlanta held Houston to 33% shooting on the night but could only muster 34% themselves on a night when no one seemed capable of finding the bottom of the net. Fantasy MVP: Josh Smith Smoove had a career night on the boards, finishing with a team season-high 22 rebounds, 9 of which were offensive. Josh claimed his 17th double-double of the season with 16 points as well, and had 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block to boot. What Went Right Josh Smith's work on the boards tonight was pretty incredible. He dominated both sides, nearly putting up double digits in offensive and defensive rebounds. He had several putbacks, which were especially important on a night when most of the Hawks' first shots were missing the mark. Joe Johnson was very aggressive offensively tonight, taking it into the lane repeatedly. One of these days, the refs are going to start giving him a few calls and his scoring average may tick up a few notches. He continued his scoring binge again tonight, finishing above 20 points for the fifth straight game. After struggling defensively the last several games, the Hawks clamped down on the Rockets, holding them to 30 made baskets on 90 shots (33%). Though the team didn't end up with a win, the effort they gave tonight on the defensive end bodes well for getting them back in gear for the next several games. What Could Have Gone Better The Rockets didn't shoot well, but they got timely offensive rebounds, particularly late in the game. It's tough when you are undersized, but the Hawks gave up 22 offensive rebounds which made a huge difference in the outcome of the game. Mike Bibby had a rough outing shooting the ball, finishing 3-12 from the field. He is still hobbled some, but hopefully the return of Acie Law will allow him to get a few more minutes of rest and help him finish the season strong. Quote of the Night “I was just trying to help my team out on second-chance points. I understood that my man plays extremely hard, Scola, and I knew I had to keep him off the boards. By blocking out, I gave myself opportunities to be able to get extra rebounds on the defensive end.” Josh Smith I dunno but is anyone else concerned that we allowed Josh Smith to grab 22 rebounds? Doubt very much that Josh coulda done that with Yao in there.
Here's another article from the Atlanta Contitution http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/hawks/stories/2008/03/12/hawks_0313.html
Not really. Smith's athleticism is positively freakish. Yeah, having Yao and Landry woulda made it tougher on him, but tonight he was gonna get at least 17, 18-ish regardless. Who's a better physical specimen than him in this whole league, eh? Probably Dwight Howard. That's it. What's so encouraging is that he went off like that... and we still won.
Josh Smith is good. He has great timming and crazy hops. Seems like opponents are begining to focus on Scola
"It's tough when you are undersized, but the Hawks gave up 22 offensive rebounds which made a huge difference in the outcome of the game" too sleepy to check but my impression was that they were the bigger team ...
iroc - that's some funny *****. seriously, man.. i'm so PROUD of the rockets and most importantly how they have the WILL to win each and every game. it's times like this that makes me glad i'm a houston rocket fan. i've been following the rockets since ralph made that last second shot against the lakers back in '86. what a ride. 20-0, that's just amazing and unbeatable (as Hakeem would say). let's hope the Rox can take this experience of winning and use it in the playoffs! cmon T-mac, you can do it!!
