I agree 100%. Its rediculous what some of these people want out of Yao. A guy could only do so much, and he did his part by having the best shooting night of his career only to lose to the lowly Hawks b/c of some stupid guards play.

Well i guess JVG really is the guy to blame then. Seems pretty silly to take Yao out of the post to set picks when his presence down low is compromising their defense. That would almost seem like bailing the hawks out.

It's coach's responsibility to correct the situation that happened in the quarter. For 90% of the quarter, we were playing like headless flies. We jacked up too much shots without sticking to the strategy we used in the first three quarters.

JVG let the whole siuation last for 90% of the quarter, whick costed our game. Agree?

Again, picking out yao to blame is not right in this game.

When the clock is running down to around 10 seconds, Yao goes out to set picks to free up the ball handler to create plays. This almost always happens without fail. The only guy on this team that can create a shot off the dribble is TMac. There is no way Ward is going to beat his man off the dribble. The sames goes with JJ.

I am quite sure now that you didn't watch the game, or just watched the game while thinking of some bad games of Yao. Yao got 4 fouls all together with 2 TOs, where are those " a couple offensive fouls"? He just don't want to wast the time struggling in the post without getting any pass, which was why he came out to set picks.

Where in the world is Boki? In a game where our shooters are stinking up the joint he gets a 3rd straight DNP?????????????????????????????????????????????

He must be snorting coke in the locker room or committing flagrant fouls in practice, the bad boy. I do not understand. No explanation, no Boki, nuthin. Just Lue and Ward chucking and ducking. Why wasnt Lue benched after that joke of a pass that was 10 feet over Yaos head the other night? What in the world is Boki doing or not doing to earn these DNPs?

And do you guys really think that Yao was ducking the ball and running around setting picks in the 4th because he didnt want to shoot? Yao runs this team?

If he gets doubled then we run him out and have him set picks. Dont send Mo down there and set a pick to free Yao up, just have Yao run out to the perimeter and set picks. Ummmmmmmmm, yeah I get it. Makes perfect sense to me. Hey, we did break 80 tonight, better mark it down. Might be a while before we see such high numbers again on our side of the scoreboard anyways. Gag.

If JVG calls a timeout and tell Yao "Get the ******* position, and stop setting picks!!", do you think Yao would not obey?

Yeah, that last sentence was more of a general trend throughout the season. If he picks up a few early fouls, his aggressiveness is basically gone for the game.

If the guy is on fire, he should be fed, no matter how. If he feels comfortable to sink those 20 footers, he will do it; if he's not, he will pass out for better shots. At least you have a high percentage to start with, and you will have ball movement if he passes out. I am not saying it because it was Yao, be it T-Mac or last year's SF. If your star is on fire, give him the damn ball, he will decide whether to shoot or drive or pass, some 1-9 role players don't make decisions for them!

Maybe they have some subconscious desire to sabotouge a non-black player that is doing well in the NBA. I can't think of any other reason why they would do it on purpose. ....or maybe they just suck and lack the skills.

I'm puzzled why so much hope is invested in Sura given how unimpressive he's been over his entire career. As for their current PGs, I think Lue is playing to form, but I really thought, apparently incorectly, that Ward was going to be a nice player for the rockets.

When I look at how many cheap quality PGs the Jazz have stockpiled (Arroyo, Lopez, Eisley, and that unknown guy who started the season) I get really frustrated....

Eisley isn't a top 10 PG, but why didn't the Rockets offer him the ~$800,000 for the rest of the year that is he is getting from Utah?

That dosn't Necessarily right all the time, especially for this particular GAME! Rememer, Yao didn't get into early foul trouble this game, and in the fouth quarter, he still had only 4 fouls. You have some sets in your mind, man, it's time to change it. Everyone could be wrong, why not just admit it and show your love to Yao?

To back up your statements with facts and numbers, not just your assumptions. Yao's low post game was working perfectly tonight, and he shot at a incredible high percentage (with luck). Sure, the opposing team will make adjustment, but what makes you think their adjustments works against yao even before you try? Show me when and where, after the adjustment, Yao came up with 2 or 3 turnovers in a row, because our guards tried to find him but were denied. Don't tell me, our super smart guards and role players realized opposing team's clever strategie, and decided on the behalf of yao and our whole team - to keep feeding a 12-13 hot hand is useless, their 20%+ percentage should bring more success. Oh, yes, that's a huge advantage they should have taken!

The problem in the team right now is, there is no team leader! Some players think TMac is the One, others may think Yao is the leader. Since TMac just got his Max contract till 2010, it is reasonable that some role players differ more to TMac than to Yao, in which way their positions might be safer. But I don't think TMac has that leadership mind, though I also agree Yao didn't reach that level yet. I guess it is the most difficult issue for both JVG and CD as well, who just don't dare to put all the bid on Yao.

Again I don't konw if Yao could ever be a team leader as he did in CNT although I have faith in this big guy. What I do know is the Rockes is nowhere close to the Championship with Yao.

Anybody can tell me why Yao got frozen out again in the final qtr? His only touch is the play after a timeout with 20 seconds left. Is he the guy with 13/15 shooting touch whole night? Someone tell me!!!

By the way, I have to say, Yao is closer to dominance than TMac is.

Don't mistake me for some chronic Yao basher. This is probably the first time I have ever criticized him as much, and I usually defend the guy. The no-balls comment was right after the game, and everyone was obviously very distraught at that time.

Regardless of whose fault it was, Yao has to get more touches at the end of the game. Everyone can agree on that. Whether it was JVG's play calling, the crappy guards, or Yao's lack of assertiveness at the crucial moments, this is definately a huge problem. I am not really singling Yao out. My post consisted of like 6 major problems i saw with the team, including even the guy responsible for the replays on TV. Unlike many other posters, however, I am not going to claim that Yao is completely faultless in this matter. Regardless of the defense, Yao has to have a bigger impact at the end, especially considering the kind of game he was having.

I said Yao was dominating the Hawks. It was obvious to everyone including the Hawks coach. He adapted his defensive gameplan in the 4th quarter to make everyone else beat them except Yao. Passing to Yao when he is getting double teamed without the ball is a turnover. That's almost a lock. It's on the coach to draw up Xs and Os that will allow TMac to fully take advantage of so much defensive attention being focused on Yao.
