Yep and Jabari was out 3 of the 4 games in the preseason.

And Tate is out now, and Nix too

Just looked like a first game - nothing more - lotsa easy to clean up mistakes.....and even with those if we hit 35% of our 3s we win.

Agreed. I was just making an observation on the usual sweeping seasonal assessments we get every game.

I don’t get all the people acting like this was some sort of horrible showing. We showed our youth, no doubt. But we played a competitive game on the road against a playoff-caliber team. There was more here to be encouraged by then discouraged by.

I’m curious how the coach fits Tate into this rotation and who gets squeezed out.

Whole game was weird. Felt more like a scrimmage than a game. Rockets seemed like didn’t know what position to be in on both offense and defense. Everything was rushed with little control.

The team functions well only with Green and KPJ on the court, utilizing their individual talent. Any lineup that needs actual coaching and structure fails badly. Even with Green and KPJ on the floor, Bari ends up waving his hands to get the ball for an open shot. And if these are not on the floor, the plays are posting up Sengun, Christopher getting to the rim etc, again individual plays. I am not sure if this is on the players, or the coach(which I tend to think). Well, maybe I am sure afterall.

Interesting. Does this match the eye test?

Wrong. I think they function well with one on. My opinion.

Jabari is a rookie. He doesn’t or is in the plans for getting the ball.

Just finished watching the game, biggest complaint is that KPJ and Green had virtually no minutes apart. Why? Green could have been more aggressive late and KPJ still has flashes of tunnel vision. He missed a lot of wide open guys. But they'll get there. Overall it was an entertaining game 1. They'll be better than last year.

finding the open good 3 pt shooter is not a priority? because he is a rookie? I don’t know what to say. Agree to disagree, I guess.

lol yeah, they are a pretty good team, but contender? They are pretty likely to be in the play in. MAYBE squeak ahead to the 6th seed.

I think our guys played well against the Hawks and KPJ had a decent game, he made a lot of passes that his teammates didn't finish on and he had one bad pass that i can remember.. he still needs to tighten up his handles.

I think overall it was an encouraging game, a lot of our guys had bad nights but they still stuck with a playoff team till the end.

Green only scored 16 points on 20 shots including 1-7 from 3, that's unlikely to be the case going forward

Jabari was 3-11 from 3, he's likely to do better going forward

Sengun had 6 turnovers to 0 assists while looking completely lost at times, he's likely to do better going forward

Garrison Mathews was allowed to play, that's likely to change going forward.

When you shoot under 26% from 3 and you don't get completely blown out, you did a lot right.

KPJ looked like our best player last night

He did have two stupid ass turnovers though

"They played well" "They didn't play well" It seems the board can only agree on two things. "They played" and Matthews shouldn't see another minute on the court.

Last season these same players tended to get blown out in these situations a lot more

No - Murray was getting past KPJ at will and it was the team defense (plus Murray taking too many 3s) that kept his points down.

Jalen, however, did seem to be playing smart (if not stellar) defense, which probably affected Trae (although he was also quite passive and took some truly horrible shots).

    Porter (32) Christopher (18)
    Green (32) Gordon (18)
    Tate (24) Martin (24)
    Smith (32) Eason (24)
    Sengun (24) Fernando (12)

    Ideal rotation for me.
