We match up much worse against Memphis than Detroit and Toronto-

They have so much more quickness and defensive pressure than both Detroit and Toronto, their weakness is outside shooting, if Posey or someone else steps up and knocks down shots we are going to be in trouble,

unless TMac does something insane...

I sure hope we get this guy off, and we play better defense.

for all the people who say that its gonna take time to gel then no way this no gelled team is gonna beat this well gelled team of memphis when our gelled team of old couldnt beat memphis, I'm gonna notch this up as a loss, we wont be gellin till magellan (couldnt resist that ) but seriously people are sayin to give this team time than i think it gonna take awhile.

 

A surprisingly very important early season game. Memphis is definitely no Minnesota, but the Rockets need to put a statement on their season already, if you ask me, like Denver did last night.

Go out and either destroy them or pull out a hard fought win. A hard fought loss or a blowout loss would be not good at all.

 

We get buried tonight. Let's hope we make some progress though.

 

Memphis is an ideal team for Yao to have a break out game against - they are undersized - only Gasol is listed at 7'. I think it would be a mistake to run too many high pick and rolls - they won't work so good on Memphis - they are quick and have tall guards. Tonight would be a good time to for Yao plant himself in the low post early and take the punishment and prove he can break the doubles by physical but undersized opponents when he wants to. We'll see.

I think Memphis will get into the 90's due to match ups - esp Gasol - and Rox imature team D - so Rockets need production on offense to win.

 

Will the guys without cable get screwed again by ESPN/TNT?

 

Unfortunately this has become a must-win game. If we lose again I'll have to keep myself out of the GARM for a few days because it's going to get ugly.

 

If we somehow control Gasol under the 20 points, we will have a chance. Yao will try hard to score, but can he get the ball? Let TMC
to it.

Are you kidding me? Memphis is absolutely the worst matchup in the entire league for Yao now that Najera is gone from Dallas. Pau Gasol owns Yao Ming. The most humiliating point in last season was when JVG had to bench Yao Ming early in the 3rd quarter of a game against the Grizz, not due to fatigue or foul trouble, but due to ineffectiveness. I really wish this one wasn't on national tv because if McGrady doesn't score 50 points, this one will be a laugher.

 

I have to admit, this is a really big game for the Rox this early in the season for 3 reason.

1. Memphis are our division rivals.
2. we are 0-2 and desperately need a win to gain confidence heading home for Sacramento.
3. Could be a momentum changing game, or worse it could put us in a very deep hole but not impossible to get out of.

If the Wiz could do it, why not us?

T-mac will play well scoring 26pts, 5rbs and 5 ast.

Yao will play better than the last 2 games but not by a whole lot, just enough to be effective and slightly edge out Paul. He will score 19pts, 10rb and 5ast with 4 TO.

JJ is the key factor here. He must hit his open shots and don't force them if we want to come out with a victory.

 

We lose cause YAO is too busy hanging out at Graceland.

 

I don't think Yao is nearly ready after his elbow injury, so why not sit him and play smaller lineup? we have a long season to go and we cannot be too nearsighted. Playing Yao half injured doesn't do us any good.

 

I totally agree with the Yao vs Gasol matchup. Gasol is just to quick for Yao. Its basically mathcing up a quick powerforward with a center.

Gasol owned Yao in past, most recently in Olympics. But it's meaningless. We have a new team and Yao must have learnt a lot from previous matches. I predict TMac will do better than last 2 games.
