if u blame this loss on offense, you are crazy.

    we shot 47%.

we lost b/c we lost the rebounding battle (and yao only got 7 boards) and the grizz shot 50%.

if we can score 99-100 pts and shoot 47% as a team, we should win if we play our normal defense.

This is the 2nd time in a row that Rockets play some uninspire basketball doing catch up on both games. The bench is bad...shooting is just plain bad.

Here are the reasons why we lost:

    Bench inconsistent play
RA failed to put the right combination of players out there
Chuck Hayes silly foul send Grizzlies to the line after tied.
James want to be the hero and try to score forcing tough shot after down by 4.
Scola bad defense and not strong enough
Yao does not play good D and show too much respect
Refs screwed a couple potential charges that i am sure will call in favor of Houston had this game is play at home.

At least part of the reason is the refs gave him bullsh*t call every single move.

or maybe we just take them lightly. v. the bobcats, nobody tried on offense and just stood around. tonight, nobody tried on defense.

i think we'll beat the lakers tomorrow pretty easily b/c we'll be focused.

but losing games like this will cost us a VERY VERY high seed.

Also, I'd say Yao coasted for Sunday's game against the Bobcats too. Didn't really try to hard to establish position, didn't look focused on rebounding. He was in a shooting grove, and grab the clutch board; pretty much the reason everyone overlooked the effort level out there. Regardless, he looked somewhat disinterested.

And also, Tmac please don't go out of the offensive flow and chuck up contested 3 pointers when they're not needed at the tail end of the game. You kept us in the game, but also contributed to us losing it with your decision making at the end.

That was supposed to be the point actually - how BAD Rafer is. I didnt proofread my message I rushed it through. And after reading it now can see how it doesnt come across as negative Rafer critique enough.

I'll say it different now - Everyone agrees Rafer had a horrendous game today, everyone. Putting it in grander perspective:
Rafer was ONLY ONE additional made shot away from being at his CAREER AVERAGE!
Which means, Rafer at his AVERAGE would STILL be bad. If he went from 2 for 7 to 3 for 8 (IF he could make his next shot) would go from horrendous to slightly less horrendous. And shows just how inept at making shots that he's ALWAYS been.

    One word: DEFENSE

We allowed them too many penetrations and although we can blame the refs all we want, we did not play a great team defense. As a result, they got about 40 ft attempts. Thats unexcusable, and that may or may not be a reflection of our team's lack of focus and pure laziness.

On offense, we are starting to revert back to the old way: Tmac/Yao/Tmac/Yao
For some reason, everyone from last year has actually regressed. That includes Rafer, Head, and Battier. All three shot over 100 threes with a good percentage. This year, they are getting the same looks, but for some odd reason none of them can't seem to shoot anymore when it count. Although I think RA's system wll benefit us in the long run (Yao and Tmac are more efficent than ever), I think we need to develop a cohesive identity apart from Yao and Tmac doing everything. I don't, maybe our bench is just in a slump and I maybe over analyzing this but when we have deep, quality players like we do, we should never see this kind of recent lack of production.

The offense today was more like McGrady/McGrady/McGrady/Yao/try to pass to Yao but fail/McGrady/McGrady etc.

But Yao was playing horrific defense. If you play defense that bad against a scrub like Darko, your teammates will not want to get you the ball on the other end, and McGrady had it going pretty well. Yao's lack of touches was more on him than usual tonight. The Dallas game was different since Yao's defense was fine.

I left in the first half feeling good about this game, and came back after the game really surprised with the final outcome. Looks like we really sucked in our defense and had a lot of fouls.

Well, I will make sure to watch the game tomorrow. Maybe under my watch, rockets will play better defense and foul less.

Good so if you see Rafer/ Mike James do anything stupid, make you chuck a beer can at them.

    Why We lost?

plain and simple. yao wasn't involved in the offense end in the last 5 or 6 minutes.

"What we have to do is find a way to get more people involved on offense," Houston coach Rick Adelman said. "We need more balance than we are getting."

    We want Steve!!

yao needs to get more shots period. he's hitting them at a high rate so he should have around 20 shots a game.

Something about refs, being aggressive on the defensive end tonight=shooting foul
Did you see Hayes being fouled out?

I think they defended our role players very very very well!

Now, other teams start to investigate our 'new' system.
