He only played 11 min. You can consider that as a warm up. ;)

I was never in favor of the Battier/Gay trade because in was lopsided, the Rockets didn't get enough, but also because I thought Gay was perhaps the best player in the draft. He looks a bit like a young TMac. Battier is solid, but I would have kept Gay.

Battier is a really favourite player for memphis, so not surprisingly, i bet most fans went to see that game just to see shane.

Yep, Carl L made the team. 2 very good pre-season games and good reviews from practice. That's settle.

Novak, oh boy. He may have opened his mouth a little early there with the "I feel I made the team" blurb. He is lookin' awful.

Reed is a goner. Bulter didn't even play so unless the Rockets want to hold onto a 3rd big man or don't want to eat his salary, he's gone too.

So it's let's see, JL3, Sura, Reed. Need one more.

Butler, Novak or Synder. If money is no object, Butler is gone. Coach looks to play Scola at center alot so no need for 3 big bodies. However, if money is a problem then Novak is gone because he's cheaper. It's just that simple.

If we get a 3 for 1 trade or something then good, Harris might get picked up again.

I would say that you might be right about that if Stromile Swift played well consistently throughout this upcoming season in addition to whatever Rudy Gay does. If he would, then he would really make that trade lopsided.

I would say that Stromile is having a good preseason so far, but I'm not ready to jump to conclusions as far as the trade is concerned since he has had that Jeckell & Hyde syndrom too much in his NBA career. Let's just see how he does in the regular season. Dumping him and his big contract was all the Rockets wanted to do with him after the 2005-06 season.

    Hey Guys,

It's been a little while since our last Rafer sighting. Like I said before a trade is looming. From what I'm hearing it should be pretty big. Sometime around the 29 30th. I know sound crazy right? Well when it happens a big " I told you so" will ring all through clutchcity.net. Just remember I'm the composer of this beautiful synapses:

    Alright guys here it is.

I have never really liked blogs or even felt the need to contribute to them. But with recent post that I have read from you all I feel the need to enlighten you.

Yes the Rockets are having very heated practices and players are at each others throats (on the court) but I challenge you to look past what you hear from the media.

Rafer Alston is not a starting point guard for a championship basketball team...Point blank...If the Rockets thought he was they would have never made the off-season moves that they did.

The main point of this off-season was to fix all of the weak links that the management a.k.a. "highly respected basketball talent evaluators" thought existed.

Point guard and power forward (which most people believe the Rockets aren't done searching for) where two glaring holes that the Rockets saw they had.

Keep in mind that yes the system is new and it takes some time getting used to, but the fact that Rafer is looking so good right now is more of a testament to him being "USED TOO" playing with the starting five than his ability to pick up a new offense. Meaning he isn't necessarily better than Steve or Mike. He just looks better because he has the upper hand that he knows the other starters game.

With that being said it is with that same familiarity that the Rockets got bounced by Utah exposing the Rockets flaws Rafer Alston and Chuck Hayes.
Yes style of play will be different this year, but the game is still about putting the ball in the bucket and playing defense. And this unit couldn't get that done last year. Mainly because the point guard and power forward weren't good. And not just bad in that series (UTAH), but bad as in basketball ability.

Now, with that in mind the Rockets would be stupid not to start Rafer because they are currently shopping him!

The Rockets coaches would be stupid to not say good things about Rafer because they are currently shopping him!

They Rockets would be stupid not to spin the media's perception of him because they are currently shopping him!

    Why?

Because his...lets say... summer of fun would make him less appealing to GM's .

    Get my drift?

And you people are just eating what the media is doing...aiding the Rockets plot...

You all probably are the ones that still believe Bush is fighting "TERRORIST" and looking for "WMD's" ....lol...that's rich...

The Rockets are still looking for a power forward and wanted to use their glut at guard as a deal maker.

    Small problem.

All GM's know that eventually those players are going to fall of the roster, and the need for a trade doesn't exist right now.

They are sitting back waiting to see what the Rockets will do come roster trimming time.

And the Rockets are playing spin doctor hyping up Rafer when his ticket out of town was bought months ago (fares are cheaper when you buy tickets in advance of your travel date... that was so deep I don't think most of you will comprehend that statement)

It's cute too. They even let him dress up as a Real Rockets Starting point guard.

But sorry Rafer... Halloween is on Oct. 31.

And the Rockets have a game that day.

And you dressed as a Rockets starting point guard will only happen if you are going trick or treating...

Who knows maybe for Christmas Santa will give you a starting job with a non-contending basketball team...

And then maybe Santa will give Chuck Hayes a new laptop so he can write blogs on Rockets.com, or send you emails from them Rockets bench.

    It probably read like this:

    Dear Rafer,

Hey dude. Things suck now that you've been traded and the Rockets got a legit starting Power forward. Man can that guy rebound. Which is good because you know I was never quite good at that. Or scoring either for that matter!!!lol It's cool though because now that I'm not starting and the rest of the power forward minutes are giving to Scola. I have found more time to concentrate on my blogging. I'm doing it court side as I speak. Steve and TMAC are finally getting along and are playing together now. The team has really taken to Steve and his big heart that Yao spoke so fondly of in television interviews. It seems to me that's what this team was missing. I still love Tracey but we kinda needed a guy with some grit who doesn't fold in the clutch. What's funny is Tracey and I were having a talk on the bus on the way to the game, and he told me he admired Steve's passion for the game. He said he never really owned that type of passion for basketball because he really never wanted to be a basketball player. He was just always freakishly good at it, and people where willing to pay him millions to do it. So he was like screw it. I'll go to the NBA. Who doesn't want a million dollars??? Crazy huh? What was funny is I youtubed and interview he had with espn about his life and progress and he reiterated the same thing...He is still playing lights out this year. But Steve is the guy people rally around, and he even defers to Yao and Tracey now. Steve's play this year makes you think. Was he tanking it in Orlando and New York just to get back to Houston. But what I came to realize that Steve is so passionate about the game that he couldn't play well at these places because he used that passion to fuel his play. And when he left Houston he lost his passion, and eventually his game.

But man is the kid hot right now.

Well gotta go the game is over and I gotta blog to do. GO KENTUCKY!!!

Your friend and fellow culprit to the Rockets 06 playoff debacle,

    Chuck Hayes

That's exactly how that letter would go. Rockets fans this is going to be an exciting season. We made changes and there are more to come. But please...please... Don't subscribe to the B.S. being pumped out by the media saying that the starting five will be the same, Rafer is John Stockton, Chuck Hayes is Moses Malone. And so forth... It's just the Rockets trying to send the message that in light of recent changes. Things are still the same, because we really didn't need to improve to win......a.k.a We wanna trade but we don't wanna look desperate to do so... That's how you get screwed into making bad moves

    Good Day,

Rockets Fan who is highly logical, and sometimes forgets where the period or comma should go...But his message makes so much sense.

"Mark Berman aint got Sh#t on me!!!"

    ^^^

    wtf??

Sounds less like a rumor and more like a post about why Rafer should be gone. Great, thanks for saying something 10 million people haven't said in the last two years.

And yes, Marc Berman has plenty of **** on you and every other member of the media in this city. Probably the only guy who's stuff I give a damn about.

We had a good 1st half. I didn't watch the game and I'm not concerned about it. Just a preseason. It's good that Adelman gives a lot of minutes for rookies like Landry who playes like all star. Well now it's gonna be the last game in the preseason and the season begins. That's what we're waitin' for :)

Hopefully Berman can remember the series against the Jazz better than you. Utah did not expose Chuck Hayes. On the contrary, Boozer was lighting us up by drawing Yao Ming out, and then using his quickness, or short-mid range jumper if Yao wouldn't go out. That was the mismatch. When Chuck Hayes defended Boozer He wasnt nearly as effective.

synapses (plural of synapsis) = the pairing of homologous chromosomes, one from each parent, during early meiosis.

You can post that in a forum? Amazing. Perhaps you meant synopsis.

The Rockets were looking for PGs and PFs because we had no depth and yes, if we found BETTER PGs and PFs, we would replace the ones we have. As it is, Rafer has been mentioned as running the offense the best. Accept it. Move on.

You mentioned that its still about putting the ball in the hole and defense (and I'm pretty sure in the ORIGINAL post you had whole but I guess instead of just removing the w, you decided to change the entire word? Nice). Then, you say Chuck Hayes couldn't get it done? Chuck Hayes was widely acknowledged as one of our best low post defenders. Also, as MANY have pointed out to you, he was guarding Okur, not Boozer. Get it straight.

Then, you go and insult OUR intelligence? The ridiculousness of "(fares are cheaper when you buy tickets in advance of your travel date... that was so deep I don't think most of you will comprehend that statement)" is beyond words. You need a head check. Seriously.

Also, you do realize that Tracy does NOT have an e in his first name...right?

You may think you're highly logical but your arguments still don't make very much sense to me...and it has nothing to do with your grammar mistakes or your spelling mistakes.

FIRST OFF!!! This is a forum not a spelling bee... I'm sure you never misspelled a word in your life before.... Especially while on your lunch break at a job that pays 6 figures that requires a J.D.....

    Secondly... Chuck Hayes sucks...Point blank...

    Chuck has some assets..yes...

Just not enough to warrants a starting power forward position on a team trying to have a more high flying offense. Or the NBA in general..

Also, I understand you and your friends ignorance. You watch every game on t.v. listen to a couple of interviews and espn, and you think that you have an expert opinion.

Well my opinions are those of experts who are in "the know".

I told myself to stay away from this message board, but the blind patriotism toward the Rockets and their players who necessarily don't deserve it sickens me. Thus, inclined me to post...

Sorry to interrupt the Rockets eyes wide shut love fest going on here...

I'm going to return to my world; maybe make my way out to Black Horse.

Oh yeah some words maybe misspelled.

Use it as a testament to how much I value my time here and not a as a reflection of my intelligence.

Most people thought my post was entertaining by the way.

    Jealous?

I hate to go all third grade playground on you, but dude your a douche bag.

Oh wait you probably never played on the playground much as a child. You were probably the guy pointing out the spelling errors as kids wrote "Your name here" sux in the sand during recess.

You know right after they took your lunch.

And right before tea bagged you.

    Yours Truly,

A Rockets Fan who knows better

So since you have a J.D., you must be what...27? 28? You sure don't sound like it. You want me to believe that with all the mistakes you have logically and grammatically, you managed to a) pass the LSATs and b) graduate from a law school? I know a lot of lawyers and all of them are articulate, intelligent-sounding individuals. You, sir, are definitely not one.

So, Chuck Hayes sucks. Thats why he was on the undervalued list. Thats why he shut down Mehmet Okur throughout the Utah series. Thats why he has one of the highest rebound/min rates in the league?

You honestly thought the readers who said your post was entertaining said that because it was funny or insightful or because, ::gasp::, they might have liked it? Sorry to burst your bubble, but it was a ridiculous post, one which many already called out. Most who said they found it entertaining, meant it not as a compliment to your amazing intellect, but more in the line of "wow...what a train wreck." Go crawl back into your hole and please, don't repost the same thing twice...especially when its an illogical piece of crap.
