One thing has changed in the last few weeks, win or lose, the Rockets have become entertaining again. Hate the loss, but I agree with Jeff, it was fun to watch. A few weeks ago this team was "unwatchable!!!!":)

we seriously need to get a pf..rasheed would be a perfect fit, he can shoot the 3 helping to spread the defense. This would give yao more room to operate. JVG and the cato experiment has worked sometimes but it just need to be stoppped.

I agree. I really want to see how Mark Jackson passes into the post against these types of defenses. Steve has definitely improved on his passing, but the type of passes he can make are very limited. The lob pass into the post should definitely be utilized much more when Steve learns it. Of course, Yao has to make sure he catches the pass too, but most of the task is upon the shoulders of the passer.

what are you saying? when the defense can front Yao, just forget about getting Yao the ball? Lob the ball to him, he will catch it or get the call (like he did in the 2nd quarter)

It wasn't the Grizzlies defense that stopped Yao's production. After JJ, Mobley, and Francis started raining 3s in the 3rd they got caught up in taking perimeter buckets instead of staying balanced with an inside out game. The Grizzlies did nothing new that the T-Wolves, or Celts have done in the past couple of games. They tored the Grizzlies fronting defense apart in the 2nd and forced Brown to sub in Big Jake to defend Yao, which didn't work to any avail. I know for a fact it wasn't the Grizzlies defense that took Yao out of the game. It was the Rockets offense that did that.

    your statement is hella funny.

did u see yao's put-back dunk, that was explosive! The sad thing is that we did not attempt to pass the ball to Yao. We would never know the end result IF we had tried.

    Yes........I watched.

Except for his "slam" explosion near the end, Yao played like a "victim" much of the night - poor position, few rebounds, turnovers, flailing etc. I'm a big Yao fan but tonite he was basically a non-factor against a really tiny team where he could have been a difference maker.

I agree with you here. He punched it on Wright's head early in the game. Later, he went up high, ready to dunk on wright again, but wright fouled him on the arm. Then, after getting a tough rebound in traffic, he threw it down again, cept Wright reached through the rim and tipped it out for the goaltend. Yao also got a nice easy dunk after some clever passing from Mo. He did the best he could with the touches he got tonight. The fronting defense of the Grizz was just relentless, but we did manage to get it in to Yao a few consecutive possessions, forcing Hubie to play Tsakilidis.

It also should be noted that Yao had a great rejection on Swift, who was trying to dunk on him. Yao shoved it right back down his throat.

Why dont you just stop responding to our posts if you have no good points to offer. I think Kerr made a honest mistake. Let see if you could do the same.

Yeah, I'm gonna sound like such a YOF, but Yao played good defense and just didn't get the same touches he was receivng the previous two games against the Wolves and Celtics where they did the exact same fronting defense on Yao that the Grizzlies did. The Rockets just reverted towards a perimeter game that at the time was working in the 3rd quarter but wasn't at all in the 4th. And Yao played good defense. He made some statement blocks on D, took a charge that was a traveling violation before the charge was called and played well. The only times he was ever scored on was when one of our power forwards didn't guard their man or box them out forcing him to provide sole help defense. The result was a lot of running hand defenses as their PFs were taking wide open jumpers or inside moves where they established position before Yao could get there. BTW I'm not a YOF. I'm a Rockets fan, and don't care who gets the better stats in order for us to win. But I gotta defend the man especially when he played good defense and played good offense with the limited amount of touches he received tonight.

People always keep saying Yao can't get the ball because he can't have his position, he can't hold his position, you don't watch the game, blah, blah, blah.

Well, why Yao suddenly had his position in previous three games?

Yao played aggressively especially in the first half, but the lob pass is way too hesitant when he had his good position. He had to get out of the paint otherwise it is a 3 secs violation.

Another thing is, other people can have their own turnovers, but if Yao turn the ball over for even one time, ball stop coming. You play away from your strength, you lose the game, and it is that simple.

I don't like the couple last shots from SF, but give him credits, he played extremely well and keep the game in his hand until JVG stupidly sub him and sent Cato on the court with bunch of bench players with stupid Cat. The lead was cut to 1 and we never recovered.

Jammes Possy nailed 13 points at 4th Quarter. Why he always kill us in the key piont? He just want to prove something?

I think SF did what we asked, but what's wrong with other players?

    Entirely DISAPPEARED!

I disagree that this guy played with no heart. Yao definitely put in the effort in a game that was stated many times before the game as being a perimeter game which would be bad on the big statues in the middle being Yao and Cato. Yao is not going to be winning any 50 yard dashes. To effectively use Yao in this game, he's gotta be defending the guy who is most likely not going to be a jumpshooter. I see no logical reason why he should be defending Pau Gasol who is a quick power forward. Also, if the Rockets do not get this lob pass into the post down pat, don't even bother having Yao get down into the post when he is being defended to prevent the receiving of the pass. This part is not on Yao. I've seen Maurice get fronted too back in the 1st Boston game. Guards did not attempt to lob the pass to Maurice even though it would have resulted in an easy layup. Get the pass into the post down well, and I think this team will be much more efficient with Yao.

People always keep saying that Yao doesn't get the ball because the guards can't pass, they turn it over too much, blah, blah blah.

Reality check...Yao is not perfect. Sorry to tell you, he has flaws as a basketball player. I know, the YOF will now post the flaws of Steve Francis to respond, but that is irrelevant. Everybody knows Steve has his flaws. We have to live with them.

Its a combination of both things, some nights its one more than the other, and vice versa.

Glad someone had the same observation, Yao played aggressively in the first half. At the second half, when JVG called the final timeout and the set was called on Yao and he made two consecutive dunks but ball never came back to him again.

Yao has his own problem, when he feel ignored and out of the game flow, he will lose his focus more easily, but he did much better tonight except last couple minutes, he should have grabbed 1 of those three offense rebounds though.
