ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Clippers 5/8/2015 (Playoffs Round 2, Game 3)

It's risky. But they may have no choice. All the Rockets need is one win in LA and they're back in control of the series. I'd be shocked if he didn't suit up tonight.

 

i am giving myself a high 5 right now. after so many years, when it comes to playoff time, i am still pumped up.

go rockets. just win!

 

chris paul playing tonight may actually be a blessing in disguise - for the rockets.

Either way it comes down to execution. I don't think Paul is going to take over the series, but he will bring a few more wrinkles that the Rockets need to be on top of. We also need to hit our threes. 18 percent isn't going to get it done on the road.

 

Let's go Houston Rockets! Give maximum effort and play smart, tough basketball. Victory shall be yours.

but to me,,, in game 1, the clips kinda got a thing going. they're like,,, ok, cp3 our best player isnt playing, we'd better get this one just for him.

in game 2, this thing kinda faded away late in the game.

i am not saying for certain that an injured chris paul coming back will mess up their rhythm. it all depends on how he plays tonight and how his hammy holds up (or not). but it could happen. and i hope it happens.

if i were doc rivers, i am holding my breath right now and praying that it will all work out. for the clips, paul's injury is just unfortunate. and to play him in this series, which they kinda have to, is a risky move. it could go either way is all i am saying. and my gut feeling is it will go our way...

 

I love this idea, until I picture Jet trying to do it.

But yeah, the fear of aggravating this particular injury has to be HUGE for the Clips.

or maybe dont preach defense. let paul torch us so rockets will start brewer and give kostas 5-10mpg. in the playoffs terry could avg double digits if he's being guarded by bench players.

they have the momentum of their first home game of the series on their side. cp3 coming back will fire everyone up too.

all we need is to take one in LA to gain HCA again. i think they take this one, we take the next, and then go back to houston for game 5 tied 2-2. we win game 5, they win 6, we win 7.

Let's test that hammy. Not wishing further injury to anyone, but if he is playing, he is fair game for a thorough hard defense.

 

Actually I'm feeling really good about tonight...with or without Chris Paul...I think the Rockets are gonna be making shots that they were missing the other game.

It feels like the Rockets are missing threes they otherwise make a few more off.

But the nuances are so fine. Are they just missing them and due for a hot game. Or is the Clios defense just that little bit better if different that even though the shots are open, the passes come in different way or timing or whatever? We'll see.

To the extent poor Rockets offense goes away and in turn reduces easy Clipper possessions, that will help the defense meaningfully.

they need to do 1-2 pick and roll and force Paul to keep guarding Harden so he has to move a hell of a lot more and defend.
