ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Clippers 11/24/2003

This thread should now be a perfect example of what Clutch DID NOT want to see following a win or loss.

Its funny... we all come in here whining about Steve and Cuttino jacking up shots, caring about their stats, etc. etc., when they should just be out there trying to do whatever it takes to win the game.

Then, when Yao doesn't score... everybody in here gets tunnel vision (and hypocritical) and starts saying "Why didn't he score... how come he didn't get more shots... 18point first half, 0 point second half, that's inexcuseable... Rockets suck."

Hello? If you care that much about Yao's second half stats in a game we won by 15, AND, its enough for you to actually criticize the guards, JVG, or the Rockets organization as a whole... then all of you are NO BETTER than those players who jack up shots, and don't care whether or not the team wins or loses... just as long as you get good numbers.

Pathetic Clutchfans.

A piece of advise, when next time Rox lose, stop b****ing. Because you are very satisfied with the way Rox playing. I am not, that is why I even agrue when Rox win the ball game against freaking Clippers!

Just to be consistent. When Rox play stupid ball and lose, stop b****ing!!

 

What is it with some of the fans, how come we can't even celebrate a win without players getting dissed or complaining about the team in general.

We kicked ass today, against a team that we only won half our games to last season. We totally controlled the tempo of the game.

On the bench or not, Yao probably wont get any more touches anyway. He had met his quota at the end of the 2nd half. By the way you should start your own website for your boys, STEVE&CATdribble**********,and spend more time there.

Alright, anyone complaining about the lack of shots Yao got in the second half....go take a look at the box score right now. FIVE Rockets in double figures and a season high 26 assists and 105 pts scored. That's team basketball. And as long as they play like that, I could give a rats a** how many shots Yao gets. That's the way the game is played folks. Yao got the team started, then others contributed along the way. So be freaking happy for once...the Rockets won by a blowout!

 

We played the double team right in the fourth quarter, not in the third quarter. We basically stopped feeding Yao in the third quarter even when he was single covered.

It was a different strategy in the fourth. The main difference was, we kept feeding Yao and we swing the ball around once Yao passed the ball out of the double or treble team. We score eleven points in a row within a short span of time while stopping clippers at the defensive end. That was the key of this game.

I didn't see how you claimed Yao had trouble with double team. The main problem was, the guards did not pass the ball to Yao when they saw he was doubled team in the third quarter. The same thing happened in the fourth quarter after Cat came back to the floor. Yao stopped getting the ball since then. Perhaps, our starting guards still did not know how to pass the ball to the paint when Yao was double teamed while Pike and JJ seemed to do a better job at that.

 

I couldn't have said this better. They won, quit complaining about points and stats. There is no I in TEAM, and you guys are singling out a person like they are THE TEAM.

 

I don't think its about yao ming not being given the ball, but how stupid mobley's shot selections were. Granted he made some tough shots tonite but how many times will he be abled to do that. Yao Ming when given the ball has done nothing but good for us. Remember when they started to go to yao again in the second half? We started to increase our lead again.

If we play a tough team and mobley keeps taking those crazy shots, we will definitely lose. We need to keep pushing the ball to yao with a large lead so he can become more accostumed to double team. Only then will he become better at passing out of the double team. Remember, Hakeem early in his career had difficulties with the double team too. Only with game time experience did he learn how to pass out of it.

 

how can you whine about this game(except fouls). Our gaurds were distrubuting the ball. Steve had 9 assits!!! What esle do you want the gaurds to do???

 

Well, I think, and you guys are not gonna like this, but I think Francis unsuccesfully tried to throw the game. Ooops, crap, for a second there, I thought I was Yetti.

 

This game is very much like the Portland game, where the Rockets consistently feed Yao early and often, and the big fellow was dominating with basically the single converage.

The Rockets didn't know what to do when had a big led. They kept letting the Clippers hang around by commiting many TOs (6 for Steve, 3 for Yao). Also, the team got away from their early success by not going to the post often, especially in the 3rd qtr.

In the second half, the Clippers adjusted their defense by sending another man over as soon as Yao got the ball, and Yao passed out the double team, created many open shots in the 4th qtr. Great ball movement.

The difference here is the Rockets made the outside shots; and the Clippers suck.
