Do you expect ANY coach to sit his best player out because he has 6 turnovers?

Of course not, that is precisely my point, JVG is smart enough to let some of his players play through their mistakes, while others he castigates them in public for them.

    Thus, he is a hypocrit.....and I don't like that...but whatever....

He is the coach, and we won handily...I am happy.....but you have to admit if Luther got hurt playing in garbage minutes, people would be upset with JVG and rightfully so.

please, he's TMAC. JVG did kind of criticize tmac earlier in the season about not being so confident in his game, being so pessimistic... so no, he's not a hyprocrite. he just called yao out yesterday for turning the ball over.

the reason he rarely criticizes tmac b/c tmac is prollie the smartest bball player he has ever coached. he knows tmac knows what he wants to be done out there on the basketball court. so obviously w/ his load, tmac will make some mistakes. jvg lives w/ it. tmac is our best "executioner." he trusts tmac the most out of anyone on this team w/ the ball.

the reason vspan got blasted is b/c he asked for more time, when he does get it, he doesn't show up. i mean at least do something. JVG doesn't like that. if u talk, u better back it up.

That's not hypocrisy. Spanoulis is FAR, FAR more turnover prone than McGrady -- it's clear from the stats. You're ignoring the fact that McGrady generates a lot more scores than Spanoulis via his passes and shot-making. If you look at turnover to usage ratio, McGrady is relatively safe with the ball, and Spanoulis is one of the worst in the league.

If Spanoulis also scored 25 ppg and 6 apg and JVG benched him, then you might have a point about hypocrisy.

The point is that JVG holds different players to different levels of accountability.....Bonzi averages more turnovers than Assists, but still he plays.

Look...this is a waste of time....It is a personal beef I have with JVG.....nothing more...

    GO ROCKETS !!

Because its a r****ded beef. You don't like JVG's hypocrisy and yet you admit any coach who did sit T-mac for his turnovers would be stupid. Are you trying to say that Popovich would sit Duncan if Duncan had six turnovers? If so, then Popovich is stupid and so should not be coaching the Rockets. If not, then he is a hypocrite as well since if one of the bench players had multiple turnovers in a row, Popovich would sit him.

Of course, the coach will have different expectations for his players, because they don't all play the same role on the team. McGrady is our primary playmaker/facilitator. So he has more license to turn the ball over, because his responsibilities are far more than the other players.

As for Bonzi, I'm sure JVG is unhappy with the turnovers (he said so recently), but he has to give Bonzi a chance to be a real contributor on the team. Why? Because he's proven in the past that he's a legitimate offensive threat who can potentially be a force in the playoffs. Spanoulis has proven nothing at the NBA level.

If you want to argue that JVG is being hypocritical in his treatment of Spanoulis, you need to point to a player who was in a similar situation and had a similar role to play on the team. Like John Lucas. Or maybe some past rookie player JVG had. Using Bonzi and McGrady as examples just doesn't make sense to me.

After the game with Celtics, Yao Ming said he needs some time to shake off his dust and rust.

He said he had too many turnovers in his first game and his play minutes in the game with Celtics was limited cos he had too many fouls. He said he had yet to resume his strength and speed. He said do not expect an eruption from him in Toyota Centre against New Jersey Nets....it has to be a step by step process.

Maybe, just maybe. Since it will be his first game on home court. His parent and his girl friend will come to watch him. And everytime, his girl friend comes to watch him play, he will have a great game.

Look, the only thing I am against JVG now is that he used Lucas instead VSpan, because I truly doubt JLIII has any future in Rockets.

Hey guys got back from the game, and I couldn't start a new thread, maybe because i didn't meet the post number requirements or something but here are the pics I took. I was sitting in loge 4 with a friend of mine.

Game was awesome for me being at my first NBA game. We were late 15 minutes to the game because we had dinner and yes you can get lost in Boston. Adrenaline was running through my veins when i peeked onto the court for the first time. At was absolutely surreal seeing Yao, Tracy so close for the first time. I thought I was in a dream.

As for the gameplay, I pretty much knew by looking at the first quarter score and having TMac and Yao available and at your disposable was the game in the bag. Although Battier was 5-15, he took smart and necessary shots. There were some passes to him with like 3-4 seconds left on the shot clock, so he had to shoot it. Yao was still a little rusty and Tmac was doing his thang. WHen rafer did one of his streetball moves, the whole building was oooo and ahhhing. Luther had a smart and effective game, with some nice 3pters. Surprising was, Chuck hayes having a double double.

The Celtics favorite player seems to be BIg Al Jefferson. Sad thing was seeing Mutumbo getting injured. When he fell down, it looked like he was in the missionary position which was funny to me but not later on. I don't think it was too serious since he was able to get up and put some pressure on it, until he got helped off to the locker room.

I think the moment i would most remember was when the Celtics dancers dressed in black tank tops and black loose workout capris, did a very sensual and arousing dance performance to the song "BoJangles" by PitBull i think. I was to caught up in the moment to take any pictures of that, because I was like all the other men in the arena, just hypnotized by those BoJangles.

Hey, a great win! A commanding win like this is really just what we needed to start digging us out of our recent mini-slump. Yao's level of play doesn't concern me at all personally, I know he's gonna need a few, perhaps several games to get back into the swing of things and find his place in scheme again. It's to be expected... all in all though, not bad for a guy who had one real practice before returning to play 20mins a night. Yao is a tough, resiliant guy that's for sure. Sure am glad he's on our side.

As for the JVG thing... I've said it before and I'll say it again (and it seems to be rather unpopular) I stand behind the decisions JVG has been making. I'm sure he knows best the capabilities of this team, and while I don't always agree with some minor things he does JVG has done an excellent job at coaching this team this season. It's not JVGs fault that V-Span and JLIII aren't really up to snuff as solid bench contributors. I'm not sure about JLIII, but I think V-Span will be starting for us eventually. V-Span has the talent he just has to get used to the American style, the system, understand his role, and realize he's no longer the best basketball player in an entire country. He's got growing to do and it's the kind of growth that doesn't really come any faster from being on the court.

Plus, a lot of people argue that if our starters are cold they should be pulled and replaced as a message and as a method for shifting team chemistry during the game. Some teams can do that. The Rockets cannot do that. With Yao back (and a healthy Bonzi-HOPEFULLY ONE DAY) we have a pretty solid starter/bench combo, but we are not a deep team simply because we have some good bench players. One player getting injured can throw off the whole thing, Yao's injury for example, and putting say... V-Span, Head, Snyder, Howard, and Deke on the court in a game where we still have a chance is like suicide.

Guys like V-Span, JLIII and Novak are gonna have to pay their dues on the practice court and learn the system then start getting more sizeable playing time. Snyder may very well steal some playing time from Bonzi though, even when Bonzi returns (but you really can't fault JVG for going with Bonzi over Snyder because of the guy Bonzi is and can be healthy and against certain teams). Yeah, it's too bad we don't have a real backup PG capable of anything, but don't take it out on JVG when he doesn't play an unready 1st year European player 15 mins a night.
