    Yeah... or atleast a yellow. I agree it is frustrating that he is the top option when guys like Aaron Brooks, Luis Scola and Carl Landry are far more efficient. I just look at it like Ariza will not be the top option next year (Yao hopefully will be back) AND the Rockets hope to add that second guy -- either by trade or by creating additional room in free agency. We have the benefit of a development year... we can see how Ariza develops, but we're not dependent upon him "breaking through" as a #1 option (now or in the future).

    I think he could be OK as a #3 or #4 option ... I think he's the eventual Shane Battier replacement, with someone else taking the two guard spot. I don't want to see Ariza camped out behind the three-point line hoisting tons of threes per game. He shot up in NBA playing time really quickly so I think he still needs some time and experience before the team makes any firm conclusions (though I agree the offensive results are poor so far). The Rockets didn't pay him #1 money so he could prove to be good value as a complimentary starter. We'll see.

    I do have to admit I would have liked to have seen him progress a little more than he has (which is not at all). He came out of the gate gunning and after that has been pretty miserable offensively almost all season.

    The Rockets need to run a lot more to pull this one out. Look for some early phantom fouls called on Hayes and Shane. This team was supposedly to become a quick offense little bit of fast breaking team, I've seen neither so far.
    Even the championship Rockets, who were dead last in fast break points, managed to get easier and quicker buckets. Come on Rockets, drink some of that energizer and get it going !! Start running !!!

    Brooks' decision making has really improved a lot this year. That last 4 pt play, I was half expecting him to turn it over driving into the lane at top speed, but instead he slowed down and draw that foul on the 3pter.

    Yeh I guess that is the thing you gotta keep thinking. With Yao back Ariza is a decent wing defender who can spot up outside for those 3's when Yao draws the double. It just gets so frustrating why he is constantly the go to guy when you have guys like Landry and Brooks who can do a lot better.

    I think we will suffer if we don't bring a premier wing playmaker back next year, whether it be by FA or trading tmac (or, by some miracle, tmac morphs into battier w.r.t. attitude and teamplay and resigns for MLE-level money). Getting Yao the ball has always required a lot of perimeter play, and Ariza definitely cannot provide that. Brooks/Lowry can, but Brooks is weak against being trapped and once teams figure out how to do that while fronting Yao, Yao will barely ever see the ball.

    Watching Ariza trying to handle the ball is like Strahan trying to tell jokes on "Brothers", unbearable to watch and should be cancelled soon.
