    From the Cato thread:

When Yao gets 3 or more blocks in a game, we are 13-3 (.813).

You think that's bad. Vlad Divac was massaging Yao's posterior & waist all night long. He was dying to get into Yao's pants

That really brought a tear to my eye. I'm going to call the Bulls and Sonics right now to make sure they felt the same way.

You are one funny dude! But who do you want from the Sonics and Bulls?

PLEASE GOD DON'T SAY HINRICK! I know your posts better that to think that you covet Casper the Friendly PG. His numbers are worse than Steve Fancy's.

    :D ... I repeat, I'm not a SOF.

If anything, I'm a SYOF... if there is such a thing. I just want to see what this team can do in the playoffs... because regardless, they're going to get better eventually.

This was the first year of a new head coach... who was a HUGE difference in style from the old head coach. Steve and Yao had never played for another head coach... Yao was being annointed in a role that some people thought it would take 3-4 years for him to get... so much flux, so much drama, yet some pretty good success.

I guess I'm just too much of a fan sometimes...

aww man, give him a break clutch. :)

if this overtime doesn't have any ill effects for the next game i'm kind of glad they won the way they did. showed they had some heart. even with the win i can safely call it the worst officiated game in my memory.

you can also see what yao is capable of when he fights back. i don't care what defense is being played he can dominate night in and night out when HE chooses to.

I thought the Francis interview was ok, he did say "Yao was the man, but we have five players on this team."

I wanted Francis to say "Yao is the man on this team and we should feed him the ball every time."

Ho hum, Francis played pretty good, but that turnover he had when the score was 89-85 was just the worst thing I have ever seen. If we would have lost, people would have pointed to that.

He's gotta stop turning the ball over like that.

Great game, showed a lot of heart and will by the team.

HOPEFULLY, they can build upon this and go fwd into the playoffs with some momentum. HOWEVER, history has a way of repeating itself, so with the Rockets, it's one step forward, and two steps back. Enjoy the victory, and a game to remind us of the old Steve Francis, as well as the greatness of Yao Ming -- but let's not forget that consistency is something this team sorely lacks.

Thank me later for the buzzkill. :)

Well, Hinrich may not have the numbers, but he has the game.

why are all steve statements like this. yeah, the triple double was ok and all, sorta good maybe, but what about that turnover!! the worst one ever!

i guess steve just broke even tonight.

    Nick ...

I'm not knocking on you ... just making a comment about it.

I saw the first half and then went jogging/walking with my brother and came in the door with the Portland fans going nuts down one at 73-72. I saw the rest from there. So I can't speak for the whole game, and Steve clearly had a good game numbers-wise... I'm not knocking that.

He had some good moments too - like his great steal from Stoudamire. I give him credit for that - that was awesome.

But so help me there were 3 plays that had me hitting walls.

    A) The momentum-killing telegraphed pass that was stolen by Derek Anderson and taken to the rack for a slam. Instead of holding the ball with a 4-point lead and the fans out of it, they now bring the ball up up just 2 with the fans going nuts (momentum is a very real thing).

    B) Yao is on fire... but Steve goes 19-feet out, does his through the legs dribble thing against Stoudamire for what seems like 5 full seconds, then pulls up for a jumper that clangs off.

    C) In OT, up four I believe... What in the holy hell Steve... all we need to do is dribble off the clock and get a good shot and Steve dribbles baseline out of control and just flat out loses the ball underneath the basket.

We won and Steve overall played well, but these things make you want to pull your hair out. We very easily could have lost -- no, we WOULD have lost, had Yao not stepped up big time.

I really hope Steve Francis retires a Houston Rocket with a couple of champiomnships, so he can show to all of the assclowns around here, who the real assclowns are.

As I remember, this was a called ISO for Steve, where he should've drove to the basket for a score, or a dish. However, Steve hadn't been getting any calls the entire night, so I can understand him going for the shot. His shot off the dribble is usually pretty good, and his shot was falling tonight. I agree and screamed and kicked at your other points though.

Fair enough Clutch... I would be going crazy too if all I saw was the second half.

Honestly, the only thing that had me confident in the second half is how we DOMINATED them, and how only the refs idiotic calls, and their FT shooting were keeping them in it.

Steve had his shot going today early... he probably fatigued in the second half, but he still had a good release on his jumpers (he did hit a huge 3 to put the Rockets up 4 towards the end of the fourth quarter).

That's the only reason why I thought he might have made that shot you referred to in B.)

In fact, about the only other shots Steve really missed tonight were his countless drives where he'd hang long enough to get a foul call... but alas, nothing.

    awesome game.

i don't know when the last time was that i saw the rockets overcome a complete meltdown in the late 4th quarter as the rockets did against the refs. i don't know if ANY team could have overcome that.

the refs in this game were completely disgusting, unprofessional, and... well... DISGUSTING. i can honestly say that i've never seen referees "have it out" for a particular team during an entire game like that. it's no wonder why players often speak their mind the officiating. if crap like this continues, i wouldn't blame any player for another glide/o'donnell-like altercation. can you imagine what would have happened if oakley was kept a tad bit longer in the game and continued "laying down the law"? a fight would have erupted. why? referee egos.

this game is why i think the rox will do well in the playoffs. although they were on a three game skid, they seemed to have matured a great deal. only a few months ago the rox would have folded late in the game. any team would have folded against this officiating.

    good job, rox. :)

Why am I not surprised the 2nd time Yao ever screamed in this league is on Rat? Great game by big 2 though. Give 'em some love.

It's fools gold. The Yao part is fine. He saved SF's rear. That's why he was "gushing" over Yao. He knows.
