Fire JVG! That's the only thing I want to say. He's killing VSpan and Novak. I expect Yao's toe will be broken again soon.

What? Did JVG go around with a chain saw chasing Novak and V-Span? What makes you think a jittery rookie point guard who can't shoot to save his like and a rookie shooter with nothing else and can't defend a cheesecake, can make us win games?

jvg always treats regular season as playoff:

defense, no roockie, 8 or 9 players rotation.

when both synder and tmac back, i am not sure he can even manage the minutes. he may put one of head/wells/snyder in the dog house

all we need is a PG to bring the ball up and post up Yao or move the ball to the open shooter....the shooter should not be Rafer as is the case most of the time....
Rafer is a total DUMB F#@!.....down by four he dribbles around for like 7 seconds before making that 3...woop de do skip to my lou...you scored a 3 when we are down by four..now we only lose by one....WTF was that....JVG needs to pull the plug and use him as a backup PG...its decision making like that that makes me question JVG and Rafer especially...
And whats up with JVG resting Yao with 6 mins left in the game....!!!!

so sherlock, if raef comes off the bench, who's gonna start at PG? don't say head b/c his handling skills arent too great and vspan has not come out of his "turnover machine" status.

The Rockets are a good team but they are far away from being great. Still, we're still one of the lower seeded playoff teams the top contenders in the West still fear.

What I think the Rockets need to work on in order to be Great:
    1) BETTER STARTING PG.
I like Raef, but sometimes his judgement is questionable. He's the best PG on our team which is pretty sad. His three point shooting is only like 36% and when you're getting open looks from Yao, you need to be alot more consistent with that. So a PG who has the ability of Luther Head and Raefer Alston would be really good for this team.

    2) Bigger Power Forward/Center
We need another Big body to guard those strong power forwards. Chuck Hayes is playing decently on these guys but he's so small. Looking at him I can see he's frustrated but these guys are too big and strong for him and some even alot more atheletic. Juwan is doing his part on offense but it still is not enough for us to be great. I like Matt Bullard's suggestion in Jamal MacGloire for next season as a backup center.

    3) JLIII, Steve Novak, Scott Padgett,
Are these guys really that useful or will they? JLIII- too small and can get greedy with the ball. Novak- shoot lights out but that's it. Padgett- decent shooter and an okay rebounder but not sufficient enough. I don't really see these guys being useful to us this year or in the longrun. Maybe shipping off these guys in a someway combination including a draft pick for one of #1 and #2 problem areas would be nice.

With Bonzi getting better and T-Mac and Snyder returning after injury, we have three penetrators in these guys along with occasional Raef and Head doing some of this as well.

    Projected Lineups
Staring PT- Raefer Alston or better starting PG if possible to obtain
    Starting SG- Tracy McGrady
    Starting SF- Shane Battier
Starting PF- Chuck Hayes (bigger body presence if we can obtain)
    Starting C- Yao Ming
Backup PG- Luther Head (given he improves his handling or given the new PG if we can obtain him)
    Backup SG- Kirk Snyder
    backup SF- Bonzi Wells
    Backup PF Juwan Howard
    backup C- D. Mutumbo

Just my 2 cents. Sorry for it being long.

The reason that V span is so jittery and hesitant is that working under JVG has made him this way. Remember it was V Span who destroyed the USA in the World Champs.
Steve Novak was the best three point shooter in College and by not gaining hardly any NBA playing time experience has lost his touch all due to JVG decission making and his lack of ability to coach developing players.:p
After all we selected Novac in the second round because of his spot up three point shooting- a specialist role player- but JVG won't play hin in that role.!!!

Lil Lee your post is on the right track and I hear you loud and clear but I take you to task on the above statement. Mc Grady when he returns must have the patience to be a cautious player, so that he might have longevity on the court.
He can become mostly a playmaker, scoring only easy shots. He will be a true role player on a team built with Yao at the Center. Otherwise as damaged goods he won't be worthwhile keeping on a developing team, especially if he can only play 20 games before his back goes out again.
I wonder if the Rockets can renegotiate Tracys contract? Anyone know about this?

Even if Tracy wanted, to the Players association would not let him.

In NFL, you can redo contracts, not in NBA.

Two hands. That should be a foul, right?
