ClutchFans Game Thread: Raptors @ Rockets 10/7/2022 (Preseason)

Don't get this take at all. I get Tari and personally want him to start at the 3, but although I like KJ and think he can be a solid rotational pc, he is nowhere near Tate other than athleticism. Tate's a really good defender which this team needs badly. Although not the athlete KJ is, he is smart and he's scrappy as they come. If he has indeed improved his 3 ball anywhere near 36%, at his contract, he's a steal. KJ has a lot to work on before he's there.

I think it's just a difference of opinion when it comes to Tate. I see a terrible player that doesn't belong on the court. You apparently see something else.

KJ has proper size, athleticism, and shooting to play the SF, Tate has none of that.

The reason he had to sign such a small contract is because Tate is a fringe NBA player that doesn't really have a position on the court or a role he could fill. PG sized unathletic PF's that have basically no offensive game aren't in large demand. Even Tate's defense is limited based on being too small to defend the 4 or 5 and being too slow to defend the 1. Even what he's decent at has MAJOR limitations.

That's why I say give me Eason or Martin over him any day.

 

I like KJ and would like to see him step up, but at this point why did the NBA select Tate not KJ for the rising stars? They got it wrong? KJ doesn't get the minutes? Bad coaches = poor line up choices?

If he was actually considered a "rising star" he'd have gotten A LOT more than a 3/20 contract. That's a bench scrub contract... and he knew he couldn't get any more than that anywhere else. KJ Martin probably gets that if he was a FA this off-season.

 

Need a better game from Jalen Green.

Good for him. Hell of a payday. Imagine what he'll get if he has improved his J.

 

Suprised he didn't give more props. Like some coaches do..

It's really not good for him, if he was seen as a starting caliber NBA player he'd have gotten at least twice that minimum.

Another easy win if Josh Christopher plays significant minutes.

I understand the sentiment but Jalen and Sengun are still only second year players that still have alot to learn. Theyre not 5 or 6 year vets you sit
