This may be a result of the team doing less drills and more scrimmaging. If they make their cuts early, we may see that trend switch to more drilling. I wonder if Jacobsen, Haryasz, and Azuibuike not playing last night signals the end for them.

i seriously think the hawks are tanking for Greg Oden
Question: where does all the Greg Oden Hype come from??
his highlight did not impress me at all
i mean he is ready to play in NBA but for a high school balla getting all these hype is insane

After two regular season games, Yao was a big slow guy, who couldnt play D, was slow to rotate, was muscled around by everyone, and was averaging 4 points and 3 rebounds. Why oh why didnt the rockets get rid of him back then?

Im not saying V-span will ever be anything even close to Yao, but cut him some slack. He has the same adaptations to make that Yao did as far as speed of the game, the better athletes, language and pressure of the NBA. Its not like JL3 is playing like a stud either. The rox are good enough and deep enough this year to win even if Vspan doesnt do much. It is way to early to even think about bailing on him now.

    McGrady looked great

    Spanoulis was terrible and lost

I dont think Lucas is as good as I thought...he needs to slow it down a little bit

Snyder and Luther showd some skills

i think vspans nba talents are obvious. the only thing i saw him lacking was knowledge and familiarity of the system. he has all the tools.

Why would they be tanking a preseason game?

I like his attitude, but he makes more mistakes than Steve Francis did when Steve was here, and has less talent.

The problem was that Francis kept on making the mistakes. Hopefully it is just an adjustment for Spanoulis and he will become a valuable asset to our team.

I think it is too early to just write him off.

Yep, way too early. I think he's going to be just fine, he just needs some time to get adjusted. His outside shot does worry me though.

See this is where you and I disagree....I think V-span is every bit as talented as Francis, but in a TEAMwork mode, rather than individually.

Steve could score, and was dynamic, but V-span will make his teamates better, and already plays better defense than Francis.

Give V-span some time to get used to the speed of the NBA game, and he will be fine, he is the PG of the future for this team.

I hope he will make his teammates better. He has skills designed for that. But he won't help them by turning the ball over all the time.

Francis did make his teammates better, not in the traditional PG way, but in the way that star scorers can by drawing attention.

In the end I think V-Span could well be a better fit for this team. His D, and determination is what we need. Hopefully time will be what he needs to get comfortable and adjust.

well V-Span only has a few preseason games left to make a real case of even being on the regular rotation. if he doesn't by the time the regular season starts, it doesn't bode well for him at all.

I don't expect him to be a significant contributor this year. I look at this year with some scrub minutes, and then next year moving into a backup role, and then by year 3, perhaps a starters role, much like Manu.

I just said this in another post.. but I'm worried about our backup PG

V-Span and JL3 aren't looking good.. I really like the potential of V-Span, although he seemed a little too eratic and hyper at time, actually all the time. But I can see him getting called for too many useless reach-in fouls.. and he Definately needs to work on that shooting

JL3 looks like he has a decent shot, although at a couple instances he basically had the ball taken away from him like candy from a baby.

I'm really happy that Head was able to play PG.. He should be getting a lot more minutes

I watched the game a second time, and Lucas wasn't as bad as I initially thought. He is a shoot-first, Jason Terry-type PG and he's probably going to get abused on the defensive end, but he definitely has skills.

He had some very good stretches in the first and second half. I wouldn't give up on him just yet.
