IIRC, the Van Gundy haters bashed JVG for cautioning against overhyping Spanoulis' readiness to make an immediate impact.

The guy is making aggressive plays and aggressive mistakes. Still figuring out the parameters of the NBA game. Van Gundy said he'll be fine down the road, he appears to have the physical tools, too. I don't understand why anyone wants to cut this guy just because he's not quite ready yet.

Sit him on the bench, let him get some experience in pratice and garbage time and he'll be ready soon enough. Seems like Luther Head and Alston got the PG minutes covered for the moment anyway.

On another note... Bonzi better get that tooth fixed and trim his fat ass down ASAP if he doesn't want Snyder and Head to start making an impression on Van Gundy and steal some of his minutes. If Bonzi is still fat and injured until the real season starts and the team clicks with the youngsters, he'll have an extra hard job getting his minutes. I know we are all excited he signed for below market value and brings plenty to help the team, but he'll still have to earn his minutes with Van Gundy as the coach. No "entitlement minutes" with this guy.

pgabriel has no patience for anything. He is perfect for this generation.

I was hoping Kill Bill showed more but he has the"it" that people talk about. It just a matter of time when he can adjust to the boundary of the NBA and start impressing people like pgabriel.

For now, enjoy the head show.

Oh what if next game Head messed up and Kill Bill does something? Trade Head?

Just wondering, did you ask for Yao to be traded after the 1st few games he played? He sure looked terrible then.

The man is from another country, another league. Give him time to adjust before you insist the team throw away 6 million.

sometimes I think you work for the rockets.

what I find hilarious, is that most all us have never seen this guy play until the world championships so I may have little paitience but I have more to base my opinion on than guys who think this guy has nba talent.

lastly I just don't see where this guy fits on the roster. I still believe his signing was an overreaction to not getting mike james considering the timing.

So... cut him, throw away 6 mil... and what do you do with the roster spot?

Give it to Casey Jacobsen? Cuz Casey has proven that much more?

There isn't exactly another decent PG out there as a free agent, in case anyone forgets.

most european players who get here and need time are young. spanoulis is not old, but he's not young, he's twenty four. he was not known as a ball handling playmaking point guard in europe from scouting reports. so I don't expect him to get much better in that aspect. I do want to see some resemblence of a shot. novak has already show he can shoot. luther head came in immediately and showed he was a good shooter.

seriouly, if this guy doesn't shoot well, what does he bring?

Older Euro players have come in to the NBA, struggled, and made dramatic improvmetns. At the same time, plenty of young American players have come into the league and pretty much stayed the same ****ing player his entire ****ing career.

Nocioni was 24 when he entered the league and was horribly inefficinet his first season (his PER was around 9) and improved greatly last year (PER around 17).

On the other hand, Eddie Curry and Tyson Chandler have made very little improvement even though they entered at age 18.

Just because a player is 24 years old doesn't mean they cannot learn.

Not true. He has plenty of patience to watch francis dribble the ball like a yoyo over and over again. ;)

You are not a rookie Luffy. What was your previous nickname on this site?

You have to be an older memebr to know that pgabriel is a Francis fan

He sees the floor and threads passes well. He plays high energy defense and has quick hands. If his shot improves to just average, he can get around his man and penetrate.

Manu was 25 when he started playing in the NBA and it took him two seasons to figure it out even with Pop on his case constantly. How long it takes and how good V-Span gets is anybody's guess. Two preseason games have only proved he isn't ready to contribute right away and maybe not this season. His shooting may turn out to be his downfall but don't count him out yet. (And I'm not suggesting he is as talented as Manu).

I thought the same thing when they signed him. From what I've seen he's a pretty good defender but he needs a lot of work before he can contribute on a regular basis. That being said, I dont see him taking anybody's spot on this roster. At least not yet.

Dude, you gotta give him more than two preseason games after traveling to a new country playing in the NBA.

That said, it's clear he ain't making the rotation this season. JVG likes to play 8-9 guys and VSpan isn't going to crack the top 8. So this season he'll gain experience and hopefully when Bonzi bolts next year, VSPan and Snyder will be good enough to man the SG spot.

I noticed that some of the players on the rockets team are getting plays mixed up because they don't know which position they should be playing when they're on the court. Several times there was more than 1 player running for the same corner after a screen and roll.
