    thats an awesome photo. lol.

head looks to have improved a lot over the off season, he'll be good to have as a combo off the bench.

as for alston, im giving him this season to give a better showing of himself, i think with a better run of injuries as a team, we will see him play better as an individual.

What's wrong with you? I hope you are not going to give a lame excuse like your 10 years old younger brother had used your screen name to post that.

    Per Weslinder:

"They didn't show the game in the Triangle and for some reason the Orange radio station didn't carry it. So, thank God for Internet radio! But the "preseason doesn't matter" thing doesn't apply to Dallas. Forget the disappointments, Great win!"

I live south of Beaumont. What is the radio station that carries the Rockets broadcast? Is it KOGT or KGOT? Thanks - some games are hard to get here.

Believe it or not, Redick is a level above Novak.

    I wouldnt go that far.

Contributing does not give you a free pass to be a troll or to just post whatever troll-like crap you want to.

COntributing or not...we do still have standards azround here.

The game enocde was still running when I left for work.

You still stuck on Redick? If rookies were put back in the pool and the draft happened again, Novak would be drafted before Redick. Redick peaked out as a senior at Duke. Novak has yet to reach his peak. Right now, my guess is more than 90% of NBA GM's would draft Novak ahead of Redick.

I have actually watched Redick a fair amount, since my roommates in college use to be the biggest Duke fans. I am not exactly sure if I share the same sentiments with you in regards to him being a level above Novak... He is good, but he struggled against stronger and more athletic defenses and his handles are really not there yet. You have to remember, he is in a system that doesn't allow him to be what he's really good at, and that is catch and shoot, whereas Novak is in a system that allows him to use his strength. Also, you can't teach height. Novak running around screens with 4s on his back is a lot easier than having Redick running away from athletic 2s/3s, which there seems to be an abundance of. Having said that, I believe the Magic are going to stunt his growth, and that will allow the disparity between the two players to dissipate.

I would give him the benefit of doubt for a little longer. If as a playmaker, you have to take a huge part of the scoring load as well, the energy that is taken away from you on offense will detract from you on defense. If you looked at Yao's offensive spurt last year, you would of noticed the very same thing, because nothing on offense came easy for Yao. As a result, Yao was often slightly lackluster on defense to preserve his energy, hence, why JVG was complaining about it last year and getting bashed for it on the boards.

I'm not sure why Head was left out of the praise. League pass didn't carry the game, so I was in the chat room, and reading about it this morning. It sounded like Head really came through in the clutch.

That is a good sign for a second year rotation player.

Head looked very Rip Hamilton-esque... a ton of off the ball movement, running around through screens to free himself up. He definately seems to have improved over the summer. Still unsure of his role on our team though -- love the guy, but he definately seems at his best playing SG and not the point like we'd like him to.

V-Span definately looked good, his vision is definately there and he can really run the court. I love his energy, but I'm still worried about it... He's got to proove that he can consistantly/reliably make those plays on defense to warrant all the risks he takes. So many of those plays could end up as disasters for us had they not gone his way...

Novak was definately a steal in the second round. I can't wait to watch this guy play, there's so many ways for him to fit into our offensive scheme and he isn't really a liability anywhere.

The criticism on Alston is a little much... He's been great this preseason aside from this game, shooting and all. His game is still the best fit for our starters, no question about that. Besides, none of our starters played well in this game, and I think a lot of that had to do with it being Yao's first game back. The team already was showing that they needed time to learn each other in the first two games -- suddenly adding Yao, someone who completely alters the pace of the game, isn't going to make that adjustment any easier.

Zone defense looked terrible... so easily exploited by the Mavs. Would hate to see that against Phoenix.

Happy to see our bench perform so well -- hopefully we see a more complete package against Milwaukee tonight.

Wasn't Redick in the news for his run-in with the law not long ago?
