They're kinda just half-assing it more or less.

I thought folks wanted them to rest? Now they need to go all out & get prepared for the playoffs & consistency & "build good habits"? Which is it? Which do you want? Rest or normal playing time?

Ariza, Gordon, Harden, Beverley, Williams more or less played normal minutes.
Capela was rested; Nene & Anderson only played 13 minutes; Gordon is going to be rested in one of the next two games
Montrezl played 27 minutes; Chinanu even saw 8 minutes
    Of Jim's 25 shots; 19 were threes.
So like I said, they're kinda just half-assing it. Not resting everyone but not playing their 8-man playoff rotation full minutes either.

    So I mean ... whatever? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm more concerned about the Astros offense ATM. ;)

Westbrook close to the half has 1 point for -17 net rating. 0-9 on FG attempts.

    James Harden is the MVP.

Oh, and fwiw about the MVP race (which seems to be already gone btw), winning this game would've still helped James to have one more team W against OKC/Westbrook since there's a decent/good chance they'll lose tonight.

yeah all i need to close this night out is for westbrook to have a 40 point triple double after an 0-11, 6 turnovers start while leading a 28 point comeback and hitting the game-winner.

How many times have we heard that ? If you don't learn from it, you're doomed to repeat it and we definitely keep repeating it.

I agree. He needs to get to where he can make some outside shots and play power forward. Beverley had more rebounds than Nene, Harrell, and Onuaku combined.

When is MDA going to get Wiltjer ready for the playoffs?

The Rockets on Friday began mixing in rest days for some of their regulars, giving starting center Clint Capela the night off and making plans to have sixth man Eric Gordon sit out either Sunday in Sacramento or Monday in Los Angeles against the Clippers.

James Harden, Pat Beverley and Trevor Ariza are expected to play through the remaining games, though likely with reduced playing time.

"We want to have some dress rehearsals, we want to keep our rotation similar, but possibly less minutes," Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni said. "The Sunday-Monday games, (Gordon) will miss one of those. Those two games in particular, we have to watch, maybe get guys some rest on those days."

Of Harden sitting out, D'Antoni said, "I don't think so. I'll have to ask him. Pat said 'no way.'

"We'll see what they need. We'll cut their minutes down. The strength and training guys, they were just telling me how to do it. They want them to play. We need to practice and be sharp, but maybe go less minutes, maybe play 10 minutes, blow it out and get out. You just can't sit people out. They need to be sharp by the time they get to next Saturday.

"Trevor had five days off. He wants to play a little bit. We're watching it. I just go in the training room and they tell me what to do. We figure it out together. We just want to maximize for them to stay in shape, to stay sharp and to be healthy when we get to the end. Every guy is different and every age is different."

Rockets aim to rest some players

Well he can't be going overboard on the 3's in the playoffs. Tonight he shot decent from behind the arc, but taking 19 shots like tonight just isn't smart when we have more capable shooters. He's taken 68 three point shots in the last 7 games and only made 18. We need Anderson healthy and taking up a lot of those shots. Ariza was off tonight, be he has hit 16 of 43 threes in the last 7 games, and has averaged .372, which is higher than Gordon's .327 and Harden's .272. I have said it a million times, and will say it again. Harden can't be taking the majority of the 3's in the playoffs. He needs to stick with the passing, rebounding, and taking open shots, but stop trying to do it all when others are capable.

You would think it would have been tonight, when the game meant absolutely nothing. Wiltjer would be developing a lot more if they had left him in the D-League. I'm really disappointed that MDA didn't give him any minutes at all tonight. Then again, I don't know why our starters were even playing in the 4th quarter. All we need is to have someone get hurt over meaningless minutes on the court. Brown and Wiltjer deserved at least a few minutes tonight.

I don't care if this game has no consequences for the season. All I know is this team isn't championship ready. Too inconsistent within games, still not good enough shooting threes, and still mediocre defensively. James has been making poor decision making shots and forcing 3s for quite some games now. Lastly, this team has no killer instinct and fans always give excuses for their shortcomings...
