i wish you could just listen to what you are saying hotballa. I know you may think youre fighting the good fight but sometimes you just have to step back and laugh at yourself and scratch your head and say what the hell was i talking about, and this is one of those times for you man.

and you know i love you man..like a clutchity play cousin.

and if you want to talk to me about this later, let me get some shut-eye and then a little after noon ill check the board and we'll figure this all out. the world is counting on us. this a first step. we can work this out. i bet yao ming is reading this and him and colin pine are praying for us to meet eachother halfway before the river becomes a wild rapid,,,haha howd you like that proverb i just made up.

Well, I'm satisfied with the answer, that shoudl be good enough for anyone who wasn't happy with what you had said. And if they're not, just tell them "ching chan won wee" lol, just kidding. Don't worry, I am Chinese, so I can make that joke.

nah its cool bro, normally I woulda laughed at that joke, but with the way the discussion was going at that time, I guess I kinda went into overdrive about it. time for shuteye, got a job to goto in 4 hours lol.

Much love and Keep tha Peace

    I'm Outz

I logged on, hoping to see a discussion on the game and I found 5+ pages of personal stuffs ... People, a little self-restraint pls.

I agree with everything London's Burning said. Good summary!

I think it's perfectly reasonable for someone who is Chinese to be more concerned about how Yao does than about the Rockets. Don't get me wrong, it drives me crazy, but hey, I do the same thing. I watch the tour de france, and it's not because I'm a cycling fan. It's because Lance Armstrong is winning it. The same goes for tennis and the Olympics. In those sports, the US is my team, just like the Rockets are my team.

On the other hand, I don't feel the same way about an American of Chinese decent.

I'm pretty sure that's not cat. It's actually "Martin", as we like to call him now.

It does count in the winning column, but when it comes to gauging how good the Rockets are, they are only winning against East teams. I'm glad we're piling it on vs the East, but I'm not going to fool myself into thinking the Rockets are one of the elite teams in the NBA right now. Only 2 games ago(vs West competition) they were playing some very ugly basketball.

    The stats don't lie:

Current Record vs. Eastern Conference 6-1
Current Record vs. Western Conference 5-6

We play 30 total games vs Eastern Conference teams and odds are we won't win them all, so we are going to have to win some games in the West(where the real competition is) if we are going to make any kind of run at the playoffs.

    Mr. Pimp,

You also forgot that the Rockets has played 11 games on the road so far. That 5 road games against the West were the killer for us. You should know how difficult it is to win on the road, especially in the West.

It's a pretty cool game thread up to page 6 where Texas Stoke pulled that stupid self-righteous "I'm hollier than you" comment out of blue. And it quickly becomes a thread where self righteous persons defending themselves and b****ing at others.

What incested his comment you say? People were just enjoying good basketball and marvelling about Yao's carrer night!!!

Read the thread page 1-6 yourself if you don't believe it.

Well, Yao-only fans can say "Yao this, Yao that.."this time without the need to defend their position. Why? Yao played great last night. Last night game itself gave a logical reason to " give the ball to Yao". Why? Because "give the ball to Yao" was damn right.
As for yueyue23, he said "I'll tell you this, I am concerned of Yao's stats, and I am more concerned of team's win because if they lose the game, Yao's stat will be meaning less..." Isn't it enogh for you "true ROX fan"?
Be warned, if you say "Yao not this, Yao not that", or "Don't give ball to Yao", be prepared to defend your position too. And it can't be true ROX fans reasons.
I am more concerned of team's win

There is a board for you. It is just not here. This is a Houston Rox Fan site, and not for for someone who don't give "a damn to Rockets".

After reading your statement, I feel that TS has his reasons to post what he posted ...

I think last nights game gave a logical reason to the "Francis needs to be more of a creator" argumentn.

    Why?

Because Francis got the team going right from the start by creating easy baskets for Cato, Jackson, Taylor and of course Yao. Yao is not a one man scoring machine(yet....could happen though). I'm not looking to discredit Yao but there are two key factors that led to last nights win that are far more important than "give the ball to Yao":

    1. Francis looked to get his teammates going from the tipoff. He had 5 assists early on that set the tone. Everyone benefitted from Francis creating easy baskets for all of his teammates, including Yao.

    2. Yao's defense and rebounding outweighed his 22 points simply because he is expected to get around 17-18 ppg. It was the 20 hustle rebounds(6 offensive/14 defensive) and 4 blocked shots that were as equally important as Francis dishing out the ball.

Additionally, Francis creating offense will make Yao's game much easier all around. IMO we'll see Yao's numbers getting closer to the 20/20 area more often when Francis plays like he did last night.

All this Yao Only stuff is annoying it all needs to just be stopped and forgot about. Its getting a little out of control. Truth is that this is a ROCKETS bbs to talk about the rockets. Not just yao. Im sure if you want to just go talk about yao and his stats then there is another bbs you can go to. YOF can get annoying but so can SOF. Lets just be happy we won and squash the beef.

Being open minded is a good thing.

All fans become a fan for their own reasons.

Most fans became a fan of a certain team because that team is calling their home the team's home.

Some fans became a fan of a certain team because they liked certain players that played on the team. This happened all the time.

You would expect more Yugo fans to like the Kings and more Spanish fans to like the Grizzilies. For Canadian NBA fans, they would mostly root for the Raptors, and for those who live in the heighborhood of Vince Carter's Mom would more likely like the Raptors too.

    These are natural.

    yueyue33,

Stop argue with that guy. I think that you are new here. Read some posters for a while, then you should know who you shall talk or who should not.

I agree with you. SF's shooting sucked last night, but he is still the hero of the game because of his assists.
One thing bothers me here is that more and more ROX fans have been classified to Yao-only fans by some "true ROX fans". But no matter you like it or not, Yao brings many new fans to ROX, and some old "true fans" just cannot stand it.

I don't know that he was THE hero of the game. I think he was one of the heroes. But Yao Ming played terrific last night as well. Mo T. also had a solid game with great effort. I think it was a good team win. I agree that Ming was the player of the game last night, and Steve played super on both ends of the floor.

    Texas Stoke,

At the outset, I would like to vindicate some misconceptions about myself. I'm from Ho-Chi-Minh City, Vietnam (formerly Saigon, South Vietnam). I hope that clear a few things up. I'm Asian; I'm a Rockets' fan. I had a chance to Visit Dallas and Houston a few years ago and also had a few opportunities to watch the Rockets play. This was when they were still at the Compaq Center. I became a fan long before Yao Ming came to Houston. To tell you the truth, I didn’t give a damn about the guy before he came to Houston. He could drop dead on the streets of Dallas for all I care. But now I'm a fan of his, just like I'm a fan of Francis, Moochie, MoT, Boki....etc.

As an Asian who loves the game for what it is, I find people who care only about Yao extremely annoying; and I don’t get annoy that easily. As an Asian, know how annoying it is for native Houstonians(?) to put up with such absurdity. I also would like to point out that it is also unfair to judge all Asians on this BBS in a clustering manner. People travel around the world to fall in love to the Seine River, the Pisa Tower, or the Wall of China. I travel to fall in love with a basketball team; and it is fair to say that I’m not the only one who feels this way.

When being attacked, you stood your composure. I tried putting myself in your shoes. If same thing would happen to my national soccer team, I would start yelling and screaming on top of my left lung (smoker). You held up well, my friend and I admire you for that. So stand your ground and your voice will be heard (though some of them are very thick headed…..or hard headed as they say in your country) but I’ll support your cause. I come here to get information about the Rockets, not about Yao Ming. Yao only fans can fly to Saigon to kiss my Asian ass!
