    PAO departs for Houston
    8/10/2007

Panathinaikos left for the US (via Frankfurt) early this morning in order to play to friendly games (the last pre-season games) against Houston Rockets (11/10) and San Antonio Spurs (13/10). Frangiskos Alvertis (for personal reasons), Vassilis Spanoulis (injured) and Adrija Zizic (he is in Croatia as his wife is expecting) did not join the rest of the team although Zizic might go to the US during the next few days. Although the two games add to the club΄s prestige, for Zeliko Obradovic they are just two training games, something that he highlighted before departure. ΄΄The truth is that we would rather stay in Athens and work as the season starts in a few days but we are going to the States to play two tough games - that΄s all. I am not happy that we will not have all players available in these two great games", said PAO΄s coach. Regarding the game against San Antonio Spurs which can be considered as a “world final”, the Serbian coach was clear: ΄΄This is for the Press, for me it΄s just another friendly game΄΄. Kennedy Winston added: ΄΄I am happy to be returning home for these two games which are a true honor for every Panathinaikos player. We are highly motivated and will do our best΄΄, and Stratos Perperoglou said: ΄΄It is a great honor for us and a special experience. We want to do our best and gain more experiences΄΄. The team will arrive in Houston at 9 in the evening.

Perperoglou: The expatriates give us extra incentive
    9/10/2007

Despite being exhausted by the transatlantic flight, Panathinaikos had a light training session at the ΄Toyota Center΄ training arena just a few hours after arriving in Houston. The session was attended for approx. 20 minutes by 30 kids with their Greek expatriate families taking the opportunity to receive autographs and have their photo taken with the team and Zeliko Obradovic. After the training session, Stratos Perperoglou said: ΄We are very tired from the trip but we must fight it and find our rhythm tomorrow. These two games are important and the presence of the expatriates gives us an extra incentive to do our best.΄ After tonight’s training session the team will dine at Houston’s Greek restaurant (Niko Niko) which is expected to be full from the Greek expatriates.

And for those thinking V-Span's injury is fake:
    Vassilis Spanoulis begins therapy
    2/10/2007

Vassilis Spanoulis underwent an MRI and visited Panathinaikos doctor, Thanassis Konidis, for a medical exam. The diagnosis is «left foot BF rupture» which means that the international guard will miss the trip to the US next week and is expected to abstain from any physical activity for two weeks. Spanoulis has already started therapy suggested by Mr. Konidis and will be reexamined at the end of the week. *PAO is already in Lemessos in order to take part in the local tournament hosted by AELemessos, which are the first opponents of the European Champions tomorrow evening (17.00, live on cable).

I think he believes the organization lied to him, and that he hated his boss, and life is too short to be somewhere that you are unhappy.

He did what he thought was right for himself, just as Francis, Elway and many other players have done.

I don't find any fault at all in what he did.....

And I don't for one minute think he is ducking this game, I believe he is hurt...

Man, I hope Francis gets to play a lot in this game. I expect either Rafer or Mike not to play at all, or maybe both.

I do too, but his hurt feelings should get better now that he is home.

Come on, we all hoped that vspan would turn into a productive player. We all saw the flashes of talent and potential that he possesses. We all saw what he did at the Olympics.

Despite your and others disdain for all things Gundy, I don't think anyone could argue with the suggestion that no one wanted to win more, or suffered losses more deeply than Van Gundy.

If Vspan could have helped us win, Van Gundy would have been playing him.
Unfortunately, as a Rocket, Vspan was a liability.

I hope Vspan has a wonderful career in Europe, but just let it go man, and be glad he brought us Scola.

What channel is the game on? I looked at the schedule on my cable box for tomorrow and I don't see any game on channel 37(fsn), 302 (fsn hd), or on 4 (channel 20 local).

BF Foot Rupture can be serious. Basically the same injury that sidelined Brad Miller for most of last year. BF stands for Basal Foot which means Plantar Fascia Rupture.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Plantar fascial rupture is rarely presented in the literature. Spontaneous rupture of the plantar fascia is commonly preceded by plantar fasciitis. A 60 year old male presents following an acute injury of his foot while playing softball. He presents with acute pain and ecchymosis to the plantar arch of the foot. Plantar fascial rupture was diagnosed clinically and confirmed on MRI. This case discusses the clinical evaluation, MRI results and treatment of acute, spontaneous rupture of the plantar fascia. We also describe the MRI differences of plantar fasciitis and plantar fascial rupture.

I wanted to see Spanoulis(?) play but it won't happen this year. Maybe next year. How convenient for him. Will any mms links be available? If so, please post them.
