Yao is thinking and trying too much. Play by our instinct. Big guy.

yao is worthless right now. he saps all joy from my watching experience. if he's not committing some silly foul or getting blocked by a guy or getting facialed, the refs are just reaming him with anything they can think to call on him or his shot isn't falling or whatever. it's terrible right now. this is like the beginning of the season.

we're going for another amazingly low first quarter score with only 13 right now.

Exactly... its all mental at this point.

The good thing is that he's got more than half the season left to get out of it.

This must be eating up JVG inside with Yao's performance because Yao is now directly impacting the wins and losses in a big way.

No kidding... he really wants to win.... and we need the big fella to win.

He will snap out of it though... I'm pretty confident in that.

Yao's accuracy is just garbage now. These short hook shots and turnarounds should be going in. He's got Cato-like accuracy now.

If you've ever played basketball, you know that if you're lacking confidence... you'll miss every time (regardless if you're not already fatigued or if you're being defended well).

But when you're going good... the rim seems like a big ol' bucket. Yao can still make these shots all day in the pre-game warmups and practices (thus, its not "skill" erosion).

    Its mental.

I read a lot of the posts on the board for fun. Thans for having the forum.

There are about 15- 20 people whose posts are very enjoyable. I admire them for different reasons.

    1) Basketball knowledge
    2) Love of the sport in general
    3) love of the rockets
    4) strong feeling for a particular player

    etc.

There are two or three posters who I admire the most for their

    Persistence;
The courage to follow their own conviction, being ridiculed, cursed, taunted, laughed...repeated.

You got to give it to them.

I hope Yao can do that also

a lot for taking the time to share their thought, knowledge, etc.posters

I agree. That is why I think there is a potentially larger problem at hand now. I think Yao needs to go to a sports psychologist.

Haha... I got to hand it to you... you definitely stand by your convictions, and you're a better poster for it. (seriously... don't change no matter how much you get flamed).

Anyways, Yao doesn't need professional help... the greatest of players have had slumps before... and Yao has shown me enough in his "good" games to help me still beleive in him, no matter how frustrated we may be in the short-term.

sura gives good offense, but bad defense.
btw, he seems to have problem in finding Ming.

Wow... a no call by the refs on that O'Neal offensive rumble in the paint on Yao.

    That's a first.

Actually, watching O'Neal be a unstoppable force in this game is hope for all those losing hope in Yao.

O'Neal was nothing but a skinny, tall dunker in High school... and he's developed into a fine low post player.... and he didn't show ANY flashes of greatness till year 3 or 4 at the earliest.

At least Yao has already shown what he can do when he gets it all going... I understand why we're debating this becuase of his awful last week and a half... but still, some of u's gots to have a little faith. (I don't know why I'm in such a good mood... must have slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night).

When Yao created a shot on the perimeter for himself, that was the old Yao. The skilled Yao.

He's too young to have an old version of himself.... lets just say that he was "freestylin" on that play. :D
