Rockets are not going to go far unless they get it back up to that 38%. This team is BUILT to maximize 3pt shooting. If the Rockets shooting is average (~33%) they can't overcome other defensive deficiencies over the long haul.

LouWill and Gordon's shooting in this game was dreadful.

 

BTW, it is not out of the question that someone like Iggy could swoop in and take the 6th man of the year award the way Gordon has been playing the last few months. While KD was out, Iggy played some great ball.

 

I like it, we are saving the best for the end ie when it matters the most...its good to spit out the misses from your system...

 

I'm not gonna lie, I feel like with Gordon's and Williams' abysmal play, neither one of them deserves 6MOY. There's nothing more frustrating than watching Eric Gordon try and force a drive to the basket only to get denied at the rim. It feels like it happens at least 3 times a game, and you would think he would have figured out how to make a running floater like Beverley.

 

@Fyreball I actually feel like Gordon gets short changed on those drives. He accepts contact but very rarely gets a whistle. That's really frustrating.

With Gordon, I feel like the jump shots he is taking are good ones. But he isn't hitting. With LouWill, he searches for contact and hurts his own shooting motion. And I also feel like the "don't shoot midrange shots" mantra is making him THINK too much instead of just shooting shots. He is a scorer. Let him score from all over.

I disagree with you on Lou. It's not like he's a midrange specialist and we're asking a square peg to fit into a round hole. He's a more than capable three point shooter. No one else has had problems changing their shot selection to fit into this offense, including Gordon who used to take a lot more midrange shots in his younger days. The only exception we allow is Nene, who shoots a very low volume from outside. We shouldn't make too many exceptions to our gameplan. Lou has been hot and cold, but when he's hot he is on fire. He can get it done.

 

That is very frustrating to me too. He does get denied at the rim a lot it seems.

 

We have started going away from our 3 pt game it seems. It seems like our guys are driving in for layups way more than they used to.

 

Wish we could get back to November-December if not better
