You have to see who they won against. Out of those 20 some wins maybe a handful were quality wins.

The key for Deke is that he is now a reserve...if he was starting he would have been less affective, probably would have tired out by this time of the season. At this stage of his career, he is the perfect backup center.

The situation right now and coach too is perfect for him. He stills has 2 to 3 years left in him if he keeps playing here.

I liked how the announcers were talking like "you can't judge Denver by this loss".

    Sure you can:

Denver = Phoenix - great shooters and Steve Nash.

At least Houston is finally getting props for great defense.

I cannot stop raving about this game. What a complete ******* crush job. We beat them to a bloody pulp in every phase of the game.

Give me Juwan Howard back and we're 50-50 to make the finals. As it is, I still give us a 25 or 30 percent chance.

tolbert was just being an azzhole who doesnt like the rockets, his usual self. what he said had nothing to do with the play at that time, he was just going out of his way to talk **** about Yao, then Yao shut tolbert's ugly face up when he made that awesome block and rebound. Yao might not be as athletic as Stoudamire, but all that really means is that Yao aint gonna make sportscenter top ten or get on the highlight reel or have the entire sportscenter crew lick his nob everynite. Amare , awesome athlete , excellent dunker but aint gonna win you a championship , much like a Dominiqe Wilkins. Yao Ming is someone u can build a team around and take u to the promise land.

Let's just say Deke won't be cheap next year, but I think he will take a $3 mil per contract for two more years probably. I think he loves his role on this team, and loves the Rockets, and loves how the fans have completely rallied around him and cheered him, he is undoubtedly a fan-favorite here in Houston.

Top ALL that with how great a guy he is off the court. We are lucky to have Deke, lucky to have Yao, and lucky to have T-Mac.

How many teams in the league can say that?

11 to 1 on the block stats in favor of us. Clearly we know where the battle was won. They think our bigs is nothing. They paid for it. We crush teams that want to play inside on us. We have troubles going out defend the preimeters. But that's due to JVG's philosphy. So Dallas will be tough to match up for us in a 7 games series.

criticism might be legit, but since it came from Tolbert, a guy who's been dogging Yao from day 1, people tend to place it as just another line of negativity from a guy who for some reason has it in for Yao

    3 million a year for Deke. I don't think that's happening.

while most people were acting like mutombo was a walking corpse, i was a big proponent of picking him up after seeing his numbers were almost identical to cato. but i had no idea he'd not only be this good and productive, but that his D and rebounding would change games so dramatically. he has just been amazing, even if his numbers per minute really aren't that much different than last year. a little over a block a game in the amount of time he plays is just so much more impressive when you actually see it and aren't just reading a stat page.

that's the thing, our whole role player corps has been built on almost nothing just like that trade. mike james for reece gaines and 2 2nd rounders? barry for lue? sura for relatively little this offseason. deke for three guys who would've never left the bench for us. wesley for jj and boki was the only trade that actually involved us losing an actual decent player and it still worked out well for us.

so james, sura, barry, deke, and wesley for 2 2nd rounders, 5 guys who would never play, and jim jackson. that's how you build a contender with not much to work with.

Seriously, Tolbert only praises run and gun team like the Suns and Mavericks except for SA. He hates half-court game for some reason.

Also you dont rely on D for offense. That was the pitfall for him in Phily, Jersy and New York. You play his strength, which is rebounding and blocking. That's exactly what Gundy want from him. Gundy has an offens artist in Tmac, so if we can get stops we have good chance to win it. Deke is perfect in this system.

Amen, we have now beat 4 teams in the playoffs the Sonics, Nuggets, Suns and Griz in a row. I am predicting WC final for the Rox, we have the perfect style for the playoffs, lock down the paint and make it tough on perimeter shooters to get open looks.
