Believe it or not, yao makes us a bad team. Too many turn overs, too many dumb plays, half hearted efforts, these will bring us nowhere. In jvg's system, a center must know how to rebound, defend, set picks and put backs. In jvg's system, a center like yao sucks. I dont like the way steve played last year but really made a concerted effort to alter his game to accompnay yao's offensive game. We traded him and got a much more versatile and a better player in TMAC. But where does it bring us, a 6-9 win loss card and a boring team who doesnt know how to defend and to score. Pathetic.

Tmac sucked too, but the guy was giving some effort out there.
Yao just looked weak. Couldnt grab a rebound, couldnt hold on to the ball, couldnt convert a point blank J and even miss a wide open dunk. How worse can it be for this guy. Is something up for him. He looks like not happy at all. I read somewhere he had some complaints about JVG being too harsh on him.

I agree that Yao does not deserve the max contract, but I'm sure there are idiotic teams out there that are going to offer it to him anyways (i.e., the Warriors). Would you be willing to let Yao go for nothing if that happens.

One thing that starting MoT tells me. He has to be on the trading block and we are trying to showcase him. There is no way after last night's loss in Utah that he should have gotten a single minute in this game, much less start it.

Forgive me I'm still figuring out how to post.

I may be way off the mark here, and if I am I’m sure someone will let me know.

Could it be that Yao is depressed?

Think about this for a minute. When he came to Houston he had no friends, and only his interpreter as a means to connect with this strange new environment. During his first year he had his parents, most notably his mother living with him. He became close friends with Steve Francis, and Rudy T became the ‘bedrock’ he could always count on. Then things started to change.

Rudy was gone and was replaced by a coach that treats the players as an analytically calculated option. Yao’s best friend, “Steve” suddenly went from the golden child to the goat in the eyes of the coach, and to make things worse, Yao was expected to surpass and replace, as the star, his friend whom he likes and respects. Along with all this, the image of his team was changed. Remember the TV ads of Mooch and Cat at Space Center, and Steve and Yao going to people’s houses, or Yao at center court with the little girl on the ladder. Suddenly the community and team interaction was gone. No more trying to relate to the fans. No more emphasis on team comrodery. Now he and all the other players were just entries on the stat sheets, and are fodder to the coach’s whim.

Then comes year 3 and Yao’s best buddy is gone. Steve is traded. We all saw in Yao’s 1st year that his culture is naturally part of his character. He is slow and hesitant to show up another player by using his size. He would rather bank a shot off the glass than slam it. He is a product of his culture and as such his emotional state reflects this. Now in year 3 his friend is gone, the team/community outreach is gone, his sense of team is gone. Yao plays to win for the “team”. But what has the definition of team become. In the Olympics it is well defined, but what is it now. How does Yao define the “team” he is competing for? It would seem “Team” is a coach that does not care about the player as a person, (unlike Rudy), an organization that is removed from the community, and no real friends at his job. (There’re all in Florida)

What motivation does Yao have? He is not playing for individual glory, he wants to win for a team, but he has no team at this point.

Don’t be surprised if Yao wants to abandon the cold impersonal atmosphere JVG has created. Then we have a problem JVG or Yao.

Yao can not hold on to the ball, made the same mistakes and he always got some stupid foul calls.
Yao has become a heavy burden for Rockets.let's get a better center!

Went to the game tonight. It was truly horrendous. After seeing that tonight, it doesn't really make me want to pay money to watch them any more this year.

The rebounding effort is horrendous. I can accept us missing shots, it happens, but the fact that I looked at one point on the stat board and the Nuggets had 34 rebounds to our 18! How is that even possible?

We simply have to get some more pieces to surround Yao and T Mac with, not that they are really playing that great either. We have to get better role players like the Bulls, Lakers, and Spurs have had in their championship runs. Like we had when we had players like Mad Max, Kenny Smith, Cassell, Thorpe, Elie, etc. We simply don't have players like that on this team right now to compliment the superstars.

You are right. If Rockets dont give him the max, somoene else surely will. It's almost like Rockets will be in a no-win situation. If they do not offer him the max, they lose him for nothing. If they sign him for the max, they will be stuck with Tmac and Yao sucking up the salary cap for years, along with other blunder signings by CD and JVG.

i think you may get a point there. Image this, when yao is bashed by JVG with those ugly F words in the locker room, if Steve was there, he might came up to Yao and gave him a big hug, told him how to deal with these bull****, just like a big bro. But now, who can do this to yao? sometimes,it's just hard to overcome some small things by yourself, if you have friends, things will be easy. hope yao be strong in next game.

Honestly I am not sure what is going on with Yao is he injured, really really tired, I do not know he is not even trying to play. He is a disgrace to his CBA league at this point. he needs to look at himself in the mirror ask himself where is the fire I had in the 2004 olympics. Houston management needs to make Yao have consequences for playing this bad. One not letting him play in the CBA in the offseason.

Franchise players dont need babysitting. They dont need a shoulder to cry on. The great ones are mentally tough and even when they are struggling they dont show it.

If our 7-6 franchise center needs Barney's shoulders to cry on, and sing him songs to cheer him up everytime he fumbles the orange krytonite, we might as well go ahead and order some supersized pampers and pacifiers with Rockets logo on them.

If there were a max contract waiting for him,yao should go for it.

I don't know why I even paid for the NBA league pass, because I don't feel like watching it any more.

There are serious problems with this team. There is no chemistry and guys play with no interest and the statium is DEAD. Have they already quit the season? It sure seems so lately.
