Way too generous for Harden and Brewer

I'm not saying it's all his fault. When Harden has a bad game without Josh Smith, Dmo and Dwight there we're done. That's our system, we kept Mchale and I have excepted it. You can't lay blame on any one player but he definitely was one of the worst two way players tonight though.

A loss is a loss, it is very likely the Rockets start 0-2 and I am not overly concerned. I don't think this team wins 56-58 games like many expect. They are very talented but lack the focus of last year's teams and believe they only need to be ready come playoff time, and to a point that is true.

The defensive rotations were really bad. Lawson individually I didn't think was terrible, but too often didn't rotate properly and as a result it left too many players open. Ariza and Harden also were not sure when Lawson would and would not rotate. The last time the Nuggets were good, Lawson rotated well and was league average defensively. That tells me he has the aptitude which leads me to believe it is a correctable issue; unlike the Lin/Parsons combo where neither player ever showed the ability/aptitude.

The spacing on offense was very poor as well and is crucial for a team like the Rockets that depends on penetration and open three point shooting.

Both of these problems are very fixable but are not going to go away without hard work. McHale clearly wasn't happy with the effort during the preseason and it carried over tonight and the Rockets will get humbled again against Golden State. The Warriors are switching/rotating properly and spacing the floor and until the Rockets all buy in and do that, they will lose games like tonight.

Can someone tell me why Thornton didn't play? Is he injured?

Our game against the Warriors will be the real measuring stick. This game sucked beyond belief, but it's not the norm.

We should be concerned about every loss in the West. It's even better than last year, which is scary. We are struggling with the Nuggets meanwhile the Thunder and Spurs were fighting neck and neck tonight. Let's hope we knock the rust off quick, they don't look ready for Friday at all. Let's hope they were just underestimating the Nuggets. Didn't see the passion I would have liked to see from Lawson against a former team.

Watch them beat GS on Friday.

It is really not a good look to lose by double digits to this Nuggets team considering it is your home opener, but who knows how good they will really be by season's end (the Nuggets that is). The Rockets won't be the only top team that loses to them.

bwhahaahaha are you freaking crazy man, only 1 players deserves a grade higher than C-. And Jones wasn't the worse player on this team tonight.

    It should be

    Harden- D
    Ariza- F
    Jones- D
    Capella- C-
    Lawson- D
    Beverely- C-
    Brewer F
    Harrel- B+

    McHale- FFFFFFF

Somehow we always play to the level of the competition, for better or for worse. It's annoying. Tonight we played down, coupled with the fact that we couldn't hit a barn door.

We need better rebounding - Dwight and dmo should help there.
    We need quicker defensive rotations.
We need to hit our shots.
Lawson needs to be more aggressive with his shot.

You will have to contact McHale via email and ask him.

My friend and I went to the game. Ugh. Then, went to Katz' in Montrose. We're sitting waiting for a table and in walks Sam Dekker, with his family (dude's dad is tall, too, like 6'10" or something). Anyway, he saw me in my shirt and said, "So, you went to the game?" "Yes." "Hey, sorry about the way we played- we'll get better." I told him something like, "Mr. Dekker, I've been following this team since 1982. We've seen it all. You don't worry about anything based on the first game in an 82-game season. If I see you here next April, and we're the 8th seed or something, then we'll worry." He said, "That's true, but losing still sucks." I said, "that's the plain truth."

Then, he and his family sat next to me and my friend. I didn't get any pictures with him b/c I didn't want to bother him, but I did get a picture of him there.

I guess we're gonna agree to disagree. Brewer was a disaster on both sides, Harden was just as atrocious, Ariza was garbage, this was a combined effort. T. Jones atleast didn't jack up a plethora of bricks.

Harden wanting to be a 50.40.90 player is a pipe dream. He doesn't have a consistent enough jumper to reach that, there's no shame in that but he needs to stop letting the refs dictate his game and run hard/fight through screens to get open or make some back-cuts to get some open layups to get himself going. He took far too many contested, tough shots and when the refs weren't calling the contact fouls he mentally checked out.
