I can't believe JVG didn't play JLIII at all.. even though JLIII provides nothing spectacular he gives Alston a bit of a breather. If Alston plays too much, he tends to make mental errors.
I can't believe he missed those two open baskets - it seemed like he hesitated. And T-mac's botched layup - well, that happens 1 in a 10000 times, too bad it had to happen at the wrong place at the wrong time.

That was one game. How did V-Span do in the next game against Spain ? Guess you have selective memory. Also, do you remember that VSpan played himself out of the rotation? He gotta chance and didnt deserve a spot in the rotation. I hope you know that JL3 is too small to start in the NBA and how did he in the second half against PHX ? Its obvious we need another PG but I guess thats JVG's fault

He did NOT play himself out of the rotation, he never PLAYED himself INTO the rotation....he has YET to play PG...which is his position.

JVG has to be held accountable....too, right?

He gotta chance and didnt perform too well. The guy was turning over the ball like crazy, even in teh pre-season. Were you watching the same player as us? He also isnt a good catch and shoot player YET, which is essential in our system.

    Go check the stats: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/vassilis_spanoulis/game_by_game_stats.html

When did he play in the rotation?

Yes, the US game is only one game. But anyone can play a game like that deserves more chances.

He got minutes in the Wizards game and played well. He was playing the back-up 2 with Luther running the point for a few games afterwards. He couldn't make shots and thats why he got pulled. Im not defending Rafer by any means. Im just saying that V-Span and JL3 are not ready for heavy minutes.

No he isnt. Lucas plays better than him. And there is NO WAY you HAVE seen enough of Spanoulis to validate that statement.

    Rafer SUCKS.

So who is saying give them heavy minutes, for God's sake?

We are begging JVG could give him several minutes every game to see what he got.

Is he really that bad? Cant even steal a few minutes playing time from the worst starting PG in the league?

NOPE. If Rafer was not the point guard we would have won. He negatively affects a game that much. I dont wish Rafer a physical injury... But if it happens, hey, what can ya do? (Besides win a championship) Play V-Span.

Both JLIII and V-Span are better.

JL III and V-span push the ball with a purpose. Rafer cant push a wheelchair.

I think what the majority of us ask is: play RA under 35 minutes; let VP be the backup PG around 10 minutes; especially when RA jacks up bricks, bench him and play VP instead. JVG should try this instead of letting RA jacking up and up and cost the game. At Warrior game, VP had 5 TOs but Rox had a big victory (28 points) and VP had 13 points. I would take it. What a good opportunity to train your rookie player with the team winning big. Instead JVG is consistently playing an inconsistent RA and bs that he had full confidence in this player. What's the chance of the Rox in playoff games with only one sub-par PG and no backup at all? Give some minutes to VP to see whether he can be our future PG, otherwise Rox will be KO in the first round playoff because of a stubborn coach and an inconsistent PG.

I think, like everyone else, Rafer shouldn't be playing more than 3 full quarters. 36 minutes.

Let BOTH JLIII and V-Span spell Rafer some minutes so he won't be as tired. When Snyder works back into playing form and Bonzi into playing shape, it will be easier for T-Mac to sit on the bench as well.

Oh well we all have our different opinions on this subject and JVG has his and his goes and he can't hear ours/probably doesn't care so whatever. :p

    you ppl are truly crazy...
you want to put in VSpan when RA jacks up bricks? you think VSpan is a better spot shooter or something?

a player needs to prove his value in the practice BEFORE enters a real game. Especially for a team like Rox, EVERY game is critical if you want to make the playoff.

can't believe this forum is filled with so many casual bball fans.

    Addition by subtraction.

The Rockets odds to win a title this yr probably double simply by getting rid of Alston. He's that freaking bad.

When I think about our PG situation, I almost want to cry.

Oh yeah, and watching that half-time report on the Rockets-Hawks game, I loved it when Rafer asked 'Who's the worst player on the Rockets' and the fan said 'Rafer Alston'.

I just saw the last quarter and OT and i must say we looked Unispierd. it really looked like they were going through the motions. no movement. noone was trying set any screens. no cutting and certianly no defensive rebounding. i'm really dissapointed in the efforts of tracy, Battier and Rafer. tracy has been awesom in the last month, so he'll get a pass. as does battier, but Rafer does this crap almost every night.

GOOD Loss, hopefully they be ready and prepared and go all out again the next 10 games. If so they will win atleast 7 again. I put the next 10 game stretch on 8-2.

In the closing seconds of the 4th quarter , while T-Mac had the ball and everyone went into "Alien" mode!!! They just stood there watching Tmac. No one set screens , no one flashed to the middle, THERE WAS NO MOVEMENT!!!! Van Grumpy gets some blame because his offense moves like a injured rock. Then Alston does the unthinkable by moving towards T-mac ,thus bring his defender and making his last second shot even harder!!!!!

As much as I HATE Alston, I can not agree with you. JL3's not a PG, he simply does not know what is passing, while Bill gets the potential to be much better than Alston, he is not at this stage. But I do think we need to play him more.
