different players have different personalities. plus they have different coaching. that's all i can think of.
Amatuer..thats funny..anyways why do you keep referring to the past? I have no problem saying he was a good defender years ago. he is not the same player he was when he was establishing himself in the NBA and that was primarily with hardnose SMART defense. How is that so hard to understand? It shouldn't be if you've followed Beverley and compared how he has played as of recent to backwards of 3 years since you like bringing it up. There's a reason why its been noted that Beverley's defense has significantly regressed as the seasons have gone by. And the fact remains, it continues. But for some reason since he's been a good defender in the past, he gets a pass from you today. I guess I'll have to say it again since you clearly missed it. He has grown quite an ego when playing defense now. And that is not a good thing as he commits the dumbest fouls and mistakes as a result. Instead of playing smart defense now he relies alot on intimidation which means nothing in the NBA. If you dont see this then just keep watching. This has been going on for a long time. If you're not able to see it, then theres not much else to say.
Work on playing Capela and Howard together you idiot... your not rebounding great with Ariza playing power forward no matter how hard you practice. This guy is something else. They need to be working on other things anyway... like defense.
Its not a lack of understanding my friend. You believe you have some sort of special insight on Beverley's play based on what you have "seen". You expect me to believe your amateur insight carries more weight than the three years of data we have. I am sorry, but it does not. Please please please don't repeat yourself. Now, not only do you want me to take your scouting report seriously, you want me to respect your opinion that he has grown an "ego", despite having never met the guy. You do not have any special insight. Get past your silly bias. Moving Beverley back into the starting lineup may not solve our issues, but it is CLEARLY a logical approach to try, especially with the mediocre results we have seen thus far.
It's funny how you're so quick to disregard a basketball discussion in regards to what I see yet feel like you're in the right like you have some higher priority. Please. The fact that you don't even see what's in front of your eyes is your problem not mine. But that's assuming you even watch the games because it definitely doesn't sound like you do.
I am quick to dismiss it because your position is ridiculous. Seriously, here is your position in one sentence: "Ignore overwhelming statistical evidence because I think Beverley has an ego and through the eight games I have watched this year he has not been good" Its just not a good argument.
It has to work or you have to get rid of one of the players. Just like Howard/Asik. It wasn't going to work so one of them HAD to go. The thing is, will Lawson be fine with being a bench player? Will he be cool with coming off the bench and not finishing games because he can't mesh with Harden? I'm guessing he won't be and at this rate he'll be gone at the end of the season. It has to work. There were questions that Lebron couldn't play with Wade, Kyrie, Love...and they too would have chem issues at the start of the season. In the end it all worked out. So yes, I'm willing to eat losses if it means getting those two to work and mesh. Yes absolutely I am. I'm not saying it "Should" work I'm saying it has to work. There is no option. What is the point of having all-star caliber players if you can't put them on the court at the same time?
ok it's ridiculous. I'll make sure to revisit this as the games go on this season when he continues everything I've mentioned Even looking at your "statistical evidence". I guess you fail to notice the decreasing number but hey its ok because he's been a good defender in the past. That's just not a good argument.
You can do whatever you want. My opinions are fluid and I can change them when the evidence supports as much. And no, I didn't fail to notice it. If you read what I wrote, you would have seen I qualified it by saying:
got it. merely a numbers guy that believes it tells the entire story, so must provide that as evidence to support at all times
Capella and Howard don't fit together, does one of them have to go? Asik had to go because he was unhappy here, not because he didn't fit. He tweeted out already he was fine coming off the bench. He is under contract for two seasons. The only way he is gone at the end of the season is if we choose to trade him or waive his non guaranteed deal. I disagree. It so important to win. Sacrificing games is not something I want to do. Don't like this, because it is rhetoric. The point of having all star players is so that you don't have non all star players. The goal is not to have all star players playing to gether, the point is to produce the best output based on the resources you have.
No, because they are both pure centers and one of them is a young center willing to take a backup role. If Capela was Andre Drummond then yes, one of them would have to go because neither of them would be cool with sitting on the bench for important minutes in the game. Asik was unhappy because he felt he was starting center in the league and wouldn't want to sit behind Howard. A big reason we even got Lawson was because they knew they had to make way for Mudiay. We are talking about a PG not meshing with a SG. That is an issue. Throughout the years we have continued to talk about how our PG has not meshed with our SG. Either the SG himself is the problem and we have a Kobe on our hands where the only PG we can play alongside Harden is a Fisher 3 and D pg or the coach is the issue here. This is what players always say though. They usually say what needs to be said in the public eye. Even if he's fine with it, it still makes no sense having all-star caliber players if you can't play them together on the court at the same time. What is important is winning championships. You won't do that if you have to sit your 3rd best player at the end of games because he doesn't mesh with your 1st best player. Teams in the west are not sitting any of their top players. The Thunder are not going to sit Westbrook at the end of games because he doesn't mesh with Durant. The Warriors are not sitting Thompson because he doesn't mesh with Curry. When people say "We need to sit Lawson because he doesn't play well with Harden." well then that also means we have to end games with Lawson on the bench and I see no benefit to that. I don't even understand why acquire him if you can't get him to work with Harden. I'm sure the team even understands this. That's why Harden said he needed another ball handler it wasn't so he can sit on the bench and watch him work it was so that he doesn't have to do so much of the creating. The team didn't acquire Lawson to be a bench spark. The went out and got him to be a starter. They went after him so that he could go at Westbrook, Parker, CP3, and Curry in key moments in the playoffs. Well if he can't work with Harden then why put him in at the end of the games? I know one thing, those players I named won't be sitting out in the 4th qtr of playoff games because they can't work with other superstars on their teams. It HAS to work. If this team wants to win a championship it means getting the most out of every player. Regulating Lawson to the bench and putting him in the role of basically only playing when Harden sits means cutting his minutes massively. The point is this, Harden and Lawson will play together and they will play large chunks of minutes together. They and the team are just going to have to work through it. You can't run away from this issue when you have these two talented players. The option shouldn't be to cut one players minutes which is what it seems a lot of people are suggesting. That Lawson can't play besides Harden so start Beverly...okay then what? Do we keep Lawson on the bench every time Harden is in the game? How many minutes are they playing together?
Morey said just day or two ago to ESPN's Watkins that "Lawson has been excellent for us". Morey and we are watching different Rockets.
Take your best perimeter defender (Ariza) and have him defend the low post as a PF. Brilliant!! And people are wondering how the perimeter defense OR the rebounding has regressed??
It's not surprising we lost considering how we were destroyed in the boards. Keep playing small ball this will eventually happen. As for Harden, Ariza and Thornton obsessive chucking of 3s. That's not going to change until we get a coach who will put a stop to it. Get use to it Mchale isn't going anyplace and we are looking like a first round exit.
I am also confused how could you make Ariza defend PF??? Obviously McHale is thinking out of the box.
The intangibles coach. Next week the will work on accountability and leadership. Thats just too many roles for Kukoch Mchale. He needs help guys.
