Rockets win never win it all at least with this roster. Am I overreacting? I might be, but I'd like to be objective about the team rather than being a blinded homer. I see a team consisting of a center who has the ability but doesn't desire to be a #1 player. I see a power forward who can't score unless it's an alleyoop or dunk. I see a small forward who is playing well but in the twilight of his career. I see a shooting guard who has specifically said he wants the limelight and is willing to sacrifice team success to further his own success. I see a point guard whose game is becoming irrelevant in the jumpshooting-dominated Western Conference. Judge by actions and not words. Yao may say he desires to be aggressive, but he looks like a zero sometimes on the court. Steve and Cuttino both say a lot of stuff about team play, but I've seen plenty of times where they are on their own agenda on the court. Forget the record against the Eastern Conference. The Rockets are playing in the West. Look at the record against the playoff contenders in the West. They are going to get smoked for 8 games against the Mavs and Kings. They have lost 4 out of 4 times already to the Grizzlies and Sonics. They have split against the Nuggets. They have split against the Jazz. They have split against the Wolves. They have won once against the Lakers which is a team in tremendous turmoil. The Suns had the right idea when they dumped Stephon Marbury to the Knicks. Streetballing point guards can only succeed in the Eastern Conference. Steve Francis is the now lone streetballing point guard in the Western Conference. At least Colangelo knows to make changes before it is too late. He's molding his team into a Western Conference-type team with a bunch of international players who can make jump shots and can pass.
Superbowl weekend. The spotlight is all on Houston. 2 straight sellouts. 2 great opportunities for the Rockets to get fans excited for Rocket basketball and they BLEW IT. I’m going to venture and guess that we won’t see another sellout in the Toyata Center for a while.
when you insist on a team being better then it is(by keeping the team intact for 5 straight years) then this is what you get. same mediocre team, pathetic team that can't win the "big stage" home games.
this game is starting to raise an issue to me: when steve has a good game yao dosent, and when yao has a good game steve dosent. Can they coexist?
Very nice Rockets, two home games filled with celebrities, both blown...... They don't belong in the playoffs of the Western Conference and they are slowly but surely heading out.
i dont write in here at all...but that was absolutely pathetic....outhustled, outrebounded....frickin horrible.....there is NOOOOOOOOOOOO damn leadership on this team...absolutelyZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! be a fan.....f-that......this is pathetic! we deserve better
i'd also like to thank jim jackson for ending this game at the 3 minute mark. he gets ming on a switch on like kidd or something, but for some reason tries a floater over 7'0 collins. then he lets jefferson get an alley oop, then he comes down and bricks another shot he shouldn't have taken. great job by the big guys of boxing out late in the 4th. oh and i'm starting to think we should never throw a lob to yao again. dude is as mobile as my grandma and if the pass isn't accurate down to the centimeter he can't grab it. you can't throw it short b/c he'll get outjumped. you can't throw it behind him b/c he'll be planted to the ground and never get there. dammit. i hear it goes good with bbq sauce Almu.
Winning a championship, can they even make the playoffs? It's gonna be tough when you play like this.
