ClutchFans Game Thread: Mavericks @ Rockets 5/5/2005 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 6)

This game should put to rest any notion that Yao is a big time player rather than the role player he is. The key now for Gm 7 is to start Deke and have Yao as backup. Deke won't score as much as Yao could possibly but the taking O and D into account, its clear that Deke is ahead by a good margin.

 

Yao has a lot to learn from Mutombo!!!

Learn how to play defense without using THE BIG BODY to draw fouls!!!!

Learn how to use leave the space to trap the offender and use height to block the shot!!!

Learn how to command the ball in offensive plays!!!

Learn to stick one hand in front and face the passer to receive the ball in time!!!! Anticipate the ball and make passer's life easier by showing him your receiving hand, please!!!

Learn to move closer to dump the ball!!!

Learn to avoid raising the elbow to get foul, keep the elbow low and out.

Never play passively!!! Yao must know that, he can't not afford to play passively during offense, becasue he can't play effectively for more than 30minutes!

He has to demand the ball and score!!!!!!!

Yao is a much better player than Mutombo when he is in command, but Motombo is a more dependable player!!!!

Yao must step up big in game 7!!!!!!

Most important contribution of Yao to Rockets

 

He put a flagrant on Josh Howard for being a punk to Yao.

 

Because the Rockets finally got the benefit on a bad call(Howard's 6th foul was very ticky-tacky and I couldnt believe they called it).

I admit Yao has a lot to learn, but this is still the most idiotic post I have ever seen.

 

It has a lot to do with how the game is called. Tonight's game is very phisical, refs didn't blow shistle nearly as often, so Yao was exausted.

 

Did you feel the momentum shift? Did you feel the role players coming alive? Did you see Dallas' automatic shooting confidence begin to fade? Yes, ming majorly whimped out, but, that means that he is due a 30+ game in Dallas. Hey Mavs, be afraid, be very afraid, think about it, reflect on it. What if.........

Yao Was Fatigued

IMHO, it wasn't that Yao was out of it mentally. He was majorly fatigued. This is the first game all series where all the Dallas talk about tiring Yao out by running up and down the court actually worked. Hopefully, after two days rest, Yao will be in better shape come Saturday. Much of his poor offensive and rebounding efforts can be credited to his weak legs b/c of fatigue. I think a great many of the passes that he would normally handle from T-mac were also dropped b/c of concentration lapses due to fatigue.

Tomorrow I will be putting together the most ludicrously outrageous Rocket outfit I can come up with, and I will be wearing it with pride in Dallas Saturday night.

Game 7 and the Rockets... sounds like destiny to me.
