Excuse me? Did the Rockets got knocked out of the playoffs while I was away from the computer the last minute? I thought the series was tied 2-2. And we already talking about next year?

    Let me add something here:

Let Yao Ming shoot some mid-range jumpers.

No. Yao should keep doing what he is good at in this series. Eat Dallas alive in low post.

Probably a great idea....he doesn't rebound on the offensive end anyway.

The reason Rox lost is because of Juwon Howard. It finally showed up.

In game two when they were down, they showed tremendous poise and came back to win.

In Game 1 they always found the answers when the Mavs made a run, and showed killer instinct. History of this very team shows you to be wrong.

You can give up if you want, but there are as many facts on the Rockets side as against them.

Can someone explain to me how someone who is 6-7 got only 7 shots? When Rockets were up 6 and Deke was fouled, Gundy should have got yao in the game and should have specifically instructed everyone to dump the ball inside to him.

We can blame the players all we want for ignoring Yao but blame here has to fall on JVG. If he adamantly instructs his players to look for yao in the final 5 minutes, would they all ignore him?

I am not giving up on the team, it just doesnt make sense why we continously compare this team to the Clutch City team, name one player on this team from that team, wait there isnt!! We need to write our own history, and not dwell on the past!

The Rockets blew two games in a row at home. We can blame the refs, lack of poise, or credit the Mavs (even). I think we just don't have the horses. I like our scheme and our stars but Jon Barry, Ryan Bowen and Scott Padgett should not see major minutes in the playoffs. I think this is catching up with us.

I agree with you for the most part...but you have to remember that the past team had Hakeem. As good as Tmac is, he isnt on Hakeem's level yet and the rest of the roleplayers arent as battle-tested as that championship team.

With that being said, I do think that this team is gutsy enough to win 2 of the next 3.

I don't think we are dwelling on the past. Just enjoying a similar situation. Obviously these guys need to write their own history. But sometimes the work of others can be inspiring, motivating, etc. It can also show what is possible.

That doesn't mean anyone should think it is a done deal just because the Rockets won in '95. I agree that the past wins don't mean we have it made. But it doesn't do any harm to look for comparisons.

    TMac is on Hakeem's level.

The rest of our players are no comparison.

Assuming Yao is as good as an aging Clyde Drexler, nobody on this team was as good as Robert Horry in the playoffs. He was unbelievable. He played PF and was blocking shots, rebounding, shooting 3's, getting steals. He played his best basketball during that playoff stretch.

Sam Cassell was clutch and could take it to the hole and finish plays. He could create his own shot as well as spot up. He's still good.

We have some players that are on the same skill level as Mario Elle but nowhere near the talent of Horry or Cassell.

Hakeem and Clyde did their part but it was Cassell and Horry who provided our edge.

That's the difference between a team struggling to finish a game versus a team that won a championship.

After watching the end of the game that i tivo'd while at work.

I will say without a doubt that the referees did in fact cost the rockets this game. People can call me out on that statement, but facts are facts. Horrendously one-sided refereeing cost the rockets this game, and maybe even the series.

But that will force refs to make the game interesting by send Yao to the bench too.

Yep, his injury was huge. We could use the potential 20 point threat he was, with Bowen in there they play 5 on 4 on us. Game 4 was lost by the role players, no one scored in double digits.

I hate ESPN, how the hell do they put up a graphic that says Yao Ming loses the game for the Rockets. Yes he made two bad plays, fumbling the ball on that PnR and letting himself get out muscled for that loose ball but to single him out is the TV version of yellow journalism. They suck!!!

The fact that terry lost the ball twice in a single possession yet we never managed to actualLY GET the ball hurt us quite a bit too.
