Dirk still needs double team treatment, ryan bowen cannot stick to him if he is screened off by some other mav, he needs help. I think to win this game containing dirk is still the key.

SHould have been a no-call, but I don't think it was ridiculous to call a foul either.

Also...to the poster who is pissed at the refs for a 5 FT difference? So the FT's must be exactly equal or it's horrible? That's not a good stat to use unless it's a huge difference.. and if both teams are equally aggressive

I don't think it's by rule that if you are inside, you are fouling for sure. It's not like if you stand there, people can come and slap your face, and spit on you. That's what the refs are doing. NBA officating is the worst among all the major sports. Refs just think they are really something, they control everyone, so they can screw whoever, whenever, whereever they want to. YOu know why? Coz NBA is a pure business, rather than sport. Soccer is the most popular thing in the world, damn it, even in some gambling fixed countries, you don't see such horrible inconsistent calls. YOu guys may not like NHL, although it's physical, but you really don't see such BS. It's just beyond belief, outright pathetic. If rules are changed and handled differently game by game, player by player, why bother to play. and F#$% Jordon for this as well.

Agreed... but it is ridiculous to call an offensive foul, and then completely reverse it to a defensive foul.

I LOVE the way we're ending this half... we've been outplayed so far (i'll admit it), and yet this game is still right there for us.

T-mac has a wide-open lane to the basket every time tonight... only getting fouled (and the refs not calling it) is stopping him.

    down by 5 at half.

don't know how you guys think about the game right now, we are hanging in the game and once we get in the rythm in the 3rd quarter, we will be fighting back.

Wow! Dallas played great, we sucked, they got the majority of the calls and after all that we're only down 5! If the calls even out in the second half, I like our chances.

Definitely agree--if we can get a rhythm and if Yao and/or Deke can stay away from that 4th foul through most or all of the 3rd Q

We've played like crap (compared to our first two games)... on both ends of the court.

The only reason we're within 5 is that Dallas missed a ton of wide open shots, and Tracy decided to take it to the rack at will at the end of the half.

The Yao double team out to 3 point line doesn't seem to be working against Dallas.

That looked about as obvious a no call there ever was.

Yao didn't jump, didn't move his arms, and his body was thrown backward by the contact initiated by the offensive player. There is no reason in the world that a foul should have been called on Yao.

Any other center in the league, and it would have been a no-call. It isn't like the offensive player was a star who gets calls anyway.

    Absurd

if we play tougher I think we can get the W. Yao's foul trouble really hurt us!!! from 3pts lead to -10 pts. but MAVS start to get worn out

Only down by 5 at the half, pretty good showing with Yao on the bench most of the first half. Charles just said it, key is Yao in the second half. Is TNT going to have a replay for this game?

I did not agree with lots of stuff he said in the past. But I tend to agree with him. A loud or even hostile crowd does give refs pressure. The Toyota Center is certainly not one of the best. Look at our home record, it's not just the team, the crowd plays a big role. That's why there is supposed to be a difference. Your Fans, your home court. Now, I see ridiculous calls even more in TC, just the players are not aggressive. I beg to differ. Yao's calls are normally in the first couple of minutes, how could you tell whether he's aggressive or not, when he only touched ball twice? Who's the genius to tell? By the way, why is aggressiveness awarded? Isn't a foul supposed to be foul? Refs are human, they have their ego and fear. They don't want to face furious fans all the time, if you don't care, why would they bother? Just my 2 cents.

I did notice that Dallas is letting Tracy have open shots off the screens, open drives to the hole, and they're double teaming the roller (Yao) when they do the pick and roll.

Thus, as TNT just confirmed, they're daring Tracy to beat them (again)... He started to realize this at the end of the half, and I expect him to come out and look for his shot more in the second half.

yao is the key to this game. if he stays on the court he can score everytime.

Arms were up but not completely straight up...which means he was extended slightly out of his "space". Plus he was sideways, so not in perfect defensive position for a charge (or, in the circle, a "no call")

Again, I think it should have been a no-call...but there were elements that make it a possible call that is called sometimes
