because they are haters, they probably didn't get much attention as a baby. However, the objective criticism like that presented by Solid is reasonable. BUt some of the venom spit out by the "he's the most disapointing #1 pick outside K.Brown" is r****ded.

    The pattern of Yao's game:

    1. We win, but Yao just plays an average game: We win because of X, and XX players, Yao's was riding along, his contribution was nothing notworthy. But at certain period of the game, he did this and that stupid thing (chose layup instead of dunk, silly fauls).

    2. We win, Yao plays well: That's what we are hoping for all years, it's about time. But somehow the opposing team chose not to front Yao, and Yao got away with some fouls, refs did cut him some break. Besides, X, and XX players played huge in crunch time, those contribution worth more.

    3. We lose, Yao plays well: Although it's an above-average game of Yao, but he couldn't carry us to win. X, and XX players can win games single-handedly, but Yao is just not there yet. He played good, but does he deserve the max? don't think so. He's a role player, that's not his team. Since we lose, he's good play was worthless.

    4. We lose, Yao plays bad: It's all Yao's fault, he's turnover killed our momentum, although he has 3 TOs less than X, and XX players, but those players handled the rock, it's understandable, besides, Yao's TO hurts us most. He's slow, can't shoot, pick up silly fouls, a p***y without fire and letting people dunked on. The whole team morale was hurt by him, teammates can't trust him, and rightfully so.

In conclusion, his existance only hurts the Rockets. Hey, please don't mistake that I hate Yao or anything. He has super talent, and he's such a great guy. I love him, just want him to do better. Besides, team success is more import for me, as a Rockets fan for X years, I am entitled to let my frustration out on Yao. I love him, but Rockets is better without him, let's trade him with Odom + Mihm + Butler (wait, with his play lately, we can't get Butler).

Dont know why everyone is hating on Yao. He still had a double-double and some of his TOs came late in the game. Besides, JVG sat him down for a big stretch in the 2nd half so its not like he played alot of mins (only 29 which is below his average).

Overall i dont think our team played very well till about the 4th quarter. If we want to win on Tuesday against the Sonics we will have to play much better.

If Yao plays good and we win I give him and the rest of the team my props

If Yao plays good and we lose..I don't give anybody props

I thought Yao played pretty well but the bottomline is we won

when we win you can't really blame anybody, criticism should be reserved for L's

I guess most people hate because they still feel/hope Yao will become a superstar. If you have already resigned yourself to the fact that he is a roleplayer, then he had a solid performance in todays game - nothing to be ashamed of.

I don't buy that, I used to, but not any more. Hate is hate, no better how one spins it. hate is never love. If you love, you can be disappointed or frustrated, but you would never attack with hateful language, or stomp on someone when he's down, or nit-pick when he's up. That's not love, not in my book.

actually you don't need to add the last paragraph. based on your analysis on Yao's game, we all know that you don't even admit Yao's contribution for WINs

A lot of good they are doing for the Lakers. It's real funny how people complain about how YAO is doing no matter if the result is a victory or a loss. YAO will never win against these haters even if he shoots better than 50% from the field and grabs 11 boards. He played fine tonight and did the little things to open the floor up for his teammates. Yeah Deke played well in his 19 minutes but his numbers will never project out over the length of the game. He's great and all but he's getting old.

I'll take a decent, alright performance out of Yao any day of the week over every center in the league outisde of Shaq. Oh wait, they aren't any truly good centers in the leauge outside of Yao and Shaq. Nuff said.

Yao has no problem playing aggresive basketball, physically. The 2 plays which he did in second half were just beautiful . However the guy can not play tough, mentaly. That is his problem and his problem will hurt the team. I was a big Yao fan before but his performance is really disappointed me. I do not want to hear all those yao fans try to defend him. The guy will get maximum contract . At least he should play with some tough attitude.

It amazed me that just from a single game, one single game, some can get the following conclusions.

"without yao, we are a better team"

"yao is the most disappointing #1 pick except for k.brown" (i dont even
think k.brown is the most disappoint #1 pick...)

"i love yao, but yao should go and we can get odom+mihm+butler"

And this game is a blow-out win with yao playing 29 min and 14/11.

According to this standard, m.Jordan would have been:

    1. benched everytime the other team took a lead. lets admit the bulls were a good team back then, and the chance that the other team ever took a lead is 30% of the time. So Jordan would be sitting on bench watching his teammates play for 30% of the game.

    2. Jordan was not even the #1 pick. So after a bad game ( I bet you $10 that he had more than 20 in his career), he should wear a T-shirt labeled "Most Disappointing #2 pick in the NBA history"

    3. Be loved by the chicago fans, and being traded >30 times and had played for all the nba teams. (that must be some record!)

TMac played well. Yao did not play well, made a few mistakes, but we have a W. He was benched in the 4 for most of the time by JVG. This is just my observation.

Lets not get carried away here...

Traditionally an early game time does not favour Yao, and neither does a long break between games.

He wasnt great and made mistakes. But, (possibly after an earfull from JVG) he also started off the run that lead to the rockets win.

LOL. I agree with you but people don't judge Yao by just a single game. Most people's opinions were formed after a long time. And don't compare Jordan with Yao please :) And most importantly, Jordan is NOT a No.2 pick. :D
