So do you think Tmac could be called top 5 player in the league according his current performance?

I'd put Dirk above TMac now. I'd consider putting Dwayne Wade and Lebron over him too.

Why is everyone trashing Yao after tonights game? I thought he put together a pretty good effort overall. He looked good going after rebounds, much more aggressive and assertive doing so. He also had some nice blocks. He took over in the second quarter by going right to the rim against Bradley and co. and drawing foul after foul.

His overall numbers don't look good but, HELLO, JVG pulled him and TMac with 8 MINUTES left in the game. 8 MINUTES!! He was on his way to a pretty nice night but no one could guard Finley & Dirk enough to keep this from becoming a blowout.

Alot of people need to stop looking strictly at Yao stats and actually watch what is going on. He is showing alot of good signs of improvement and I, for one, am excited about what could be around the corner for him and this team.

I don't consider him a top 5 player in this league. Last year he admitted the zone shut him down and frustrated him to the point he seriously considered quitting after the season was over. That's not the mentality of a top player. Just because he's talented, doesn't make him a top 5 player.

It's the same Yao vs Francis crap, except that Tmac takes Yao's role and Yao becomes the whipping boy. The same folks who
claim Rox Tmac's team bi*ch everything about Yao and ignore the poor performance from Tmac. I seriously think Yao would be
kicked out of the door like Francis. If he's smart enough, he should leave before Rox trades him for Brand baby.

Outgunned by Dalla tonight. Current personel for the rox is no match to Dallas, and it has been that way for a while. We should've got Derek Fish in the summer.
Howard and Taylor need to go!

There are so many problems with this team, it's really not funny anymore. The role players are crap and our main guys are each going through their struggles with their game. To top it off, the coach is incredibly inflexible. That is surely a recipe for disaster.

He won't be under Van Gundy. In all honesty, JVG's offense doesn't allow big numbers from anyone. If the Rockets opened up their offense more, that is when you would see the big numbers from Tracy.

He's averaging 22ppg 5rpg 5apg, and that's on a team that is playing like crap, he isn't getting any fastbreak points. Just adding 4 fastbreak points would have him averaging 26ppg.

Van Gundy has a favorite saying when describing players "you are who you are". Well the Rockets can't run, can't jump and can't shoot and thats not going to win you many games let alone get you into the playoffs in this league. It's going to be a long season and maybe the best the thing that happens to this team is to have a horrendous year so this team can be blown up ala the Magic and Suns last year. Fire the coach, GM and get a lottery pick, that would be a start.

"You get outscored 56-32 with your starting group on the floor in the first and third quarters, that's something we've been fighting most of the year," Van Gundy said. "Starting group lethargy has led to a lot of bad performances at home."
    ----------------------------------
Stop making excuses, Mr. Van Gundy, as you often said so yourself. Your inability to coach offensively has hurt this team as much. As for now, either you require CD to work out some trade to get a tougher power forward and other pieces very soon, or you should leave the post, for the team's good. Period.

Kenny Smith made the comment that JVGs offense does not allow for opportunities of chaotic offense like it did when T-Mac went off for his 13 points in 35 seconds. Someone as athetic and talented as McGrady, as was when Francis was here last year, need spurts of helter-skelter basketball to run off 5-10 points in a row and really get into their flow as an offensive player. Last year we had the athletes and didn't try or couldn't finish. This year we don't have the athletes and never try to run up and down. You hear JVG insisting that he would like to have a running team, but you have to wonder if he emphasizes it enough in practice, or more obviously if his style just dictates that his players run his offensive scheme (which is crap) first and foremost before anything else.

Or even more obvious is the fact that the players he has surrounded Yao and T-Mac with are not suited to playing the up and down style needed to win since this year. Hopefully 2004 will be the beginning of another era of good offense, ending the horrid decade-long stretch of NY-style O in the NBA. If the Rockets hope to keep up with the rest of the league, everyone except T-Mac, Yao, Sura, Bowen (maybe), Boki, and Padgett need to go. Or fire JVG. Or both

totally agree. It seems we still have problems at point guard (neither sura or barett can shoot) and we still have huge problems at PF. JJ is even looking like he is inconsistent and slow on defense. To top it all off both of our superstars are also inconsistent.

We need to fire Van Grumpy and get a new coach in here that can get some life into these players and open up the game for T-mac.
