Not even a chance to win if the Rockets play the sloppy defense like in Utah.

JVG has to figure out better offense strategies for players other than Tmac and Yao to get involved. Don't blame on Yao for his lack of stamina if every single play has to go through him systematically. Don't blame on Tmac for his shot selections if plays are designed for the rest of the team to watch. Blame on JVG. I just don't see he has variety of plays in his playbook.

This may be out of the topic. I watched Spurs vs Mavs last night. The Spurs got a new big man Elson(maybe I spelled it wrong), a quality big man with athleticism and talent. I just wonder why, with all the talents and stars, they could still get big man like that. On the other hand, the Rockets stubbornly played Battier at PF who was then embarrassed by Boozer. Where the hell was JHoward or maybe even Hayes? Battier sure is a better player than them, but he is NOT an efficient power forward when play against old school team(cuz Jerry Sloan is the coach) like the Jazz.

But Battier should be a good PF when VS the Mavs. He should be able to fight against Nowiziki's quickness. Also, hope Wells can help to rebound. And lastly, Alston! Plz take less shots and OPEN shots only.

Looking forward to the game. Hope to see these Rockets to improve.

If we still had Bowen...I would be 100% sure we'd win. Without that Monster....i just don't know.

We need to win one at home, we have a tough opening stretch.

I watched the first game on TV from Texas Children's and the one thing I would have liked to have seen done better was (among many) when T-mac's shot wasnt falling, it would have been nice to see him drive it inside.

His drive is just awesome, he didnt have to take those long shots.

    My prediction:

We will start like we did in Utah, look clueless and no energy whatsoever out there. Dallas coming from a loss to Spurs with a revenge, and they outwork, outrebound, outhustle everyone.

In the end, T-Mac, Yao, Rafer, Snyder, and JVG are so surprised about their intensity and say Rockets do not play with enough intensity and focus, especially in the first 40 minutes.

50 new threads then come out to fire JVG, trade T-Mac, ship out Rafer, bring back Gay and Bowen.

Mavericks have enough big men(Dampier, Diop, Mbenga) to make Yao works for his points and rebounds. In order to win, the rockets need T-mac to dominate!

I still believe, in today's nba, perimeter players are the one need to dominate the game not the post players!

some optimism i want to share is that

    in the last few seasons

when yao was in foul trouble

his stat line looked something like this

    14/7/2

however his last game where he was in trouble his stat line looked like thiss

    22/9/2/2

pretty impressive if you ask me

Fellow Posters,I just don't see the Rockets beating the Dallas Mavericks to-night! I hope that I am incorrect but watching the Mavs. game last night, just refreshed my memory on how the Mavs. play at a different , higher level, a level that the Rockets have not been able to reach for a long time.
